VIP Check in - San Diego?

I’ll be sailing out of San Diego on the Elation in June, something I’ve wanted to do for a long time since I’m originally from there:) I checked on the Carnival website and San Diego is not mentioned as a port that has VIP check-in. Does anyone know the procedure when leaving from there if you’re Platinum or have a suite?

We were on the Spirit out of San Diego in November. We are platinum and happened to have a suite. They did have a separate VIP line for checking in on that cruise. We walked into the terminal about 1:30 and I'm not sure using the VIP check-in made much difference as they did not escort you past any lines for the security checkpoint or the photographing area as they have in other terminals. If check-in had been busier when we arrived, I'm sure it would have expedited boarding a little bit.

itdjbw - sorry, i don't know anything about the check-in process for princess cruises.

Cali Cruisers, thanks for the reply!!! So looking forward to sailing out of San Diego harbor. We were booked on the Spirit when it was supposed to come back to the east coast several years ago, but they kept her on the west coast, so they cancelled our cruise!!

Idtjbw, I would call Princess and ask what procedure they have for their VIP check-in for San Diego. Have a great cruise!!

When I sailed the Spirit out of San Diego in 2005, they had a table marked for VIP Check-in that was reomved a bit from the other Check-in Lines, they checked us in, gave us our S&S Cards and wished us a happy cruise, we were then directed to proceed to security and on to the ship. Have never been personally escorted on to the ship, except for the first Carnival cruise I took Mom on (Spirit 5/2003 Honolulu to Vancouver) and I think it was only because we were using Carnival's wheelchair and they have to have one of there folks bring you on board (and off the ship) for safety (and liability) issues. But it was quick and painless.
