Tour Guide Suggestions

My DH and are looking for suggestions and feedback for two tours that begin in Cozumel.

The first is the Mayan Ruins of Tulum. My DH REALLY REALLY wants to see the ruins. It begins with ferry to the mainland arriving at Playa del Carmen. We are concerned with booking a tour separately from Carnival because we certainly do not want to miss the ship. We are willing to book separately, if we can find a reputible company.

The second is one that was originally our first choice. It is the Caverns by Jeep and snorkeling combo. However, this is not offered by Carnival for our port date. It is also on the mainland, I believe near Playa del Carmen as well.

Does anyone know of a reliable tour guide? Any feedback and/or suggestions are greatly appreciated.
