There does not seem to have been any reviews of the Silver Cloud recently. We are booked on a Mahe to Mauritius cruise in November and would love to hear any recent reviews, good or bad. Someone out there must have done a cruise recently!!

We were on the Cloud 2/6 to 2/21/07. This was our 3rd SS cruise, our 1st on the Cloud. We were pampered beyond belief. The staff was superb and the service impeccable. There were, naturally, things we COULD complain about, but they were minimal at best and we always travel with an optimistic attitude and a down-to-earth eye on what goes on around us. The pride the staff had in their ship and their guests overcame any 'little' thing that might have annoyed someone who was picky. All in all we had a great time.. and would go back in a second, if only we could! Hope this helps.

I think the Cloud must be the star of the fleet; the crew seem to take a real pride in their work and she really is a "happy" ship. I have been on 2 SS cruises both on the Cloud, and have heard both directly from friends and from posters on CC, about problems they have had on the other 3 ships, so I am quite reticent about sailing on another SS ship (as the Cloud isn't doing the kind of itinerary I want for quite some time), with inconsistencies in service on the other 3 ships & in their head office. We have just cancelled a crossing on the Wind, in favour of Sea Dream. I've not sailed on the Cloud since Ray Solaire has left as CD however I am sure his influence remains.

Nothing is too much trouble for the guys on the Cloud and I have made 2 very good friends amongst the crew.

Thanks both for your replies. Was looking forward to it before but now even more so. We sailed on the Shadow last November and could not find anything to complain about. Staff, service, food and ship were excellent. Don't let some of the negative comments regarding the rest of the fleet put you off. I am sure that I read somewhere that the Cloud is due for a dry dock refurb. Do you know if this is correct.

is, as it is on all Silverseas cruises, pretty low-key. We're not ones to stay up late, as we're early risers (ah.... room service breakfast!)... so, although I've attended some afternoon lectures and cooking demonstrations... and spent some time (;) ) in the casino... we've never gone to the evening performances. I know there was a singer onboard, and some other 'acts'. We've danced to the music at the dinner dances.. and enjoyed the piano player in the bar before dinner... but that's about it. As for sea days... on our last cruise there was a pretty cut-throat bridge group (!!! whoa nellie !!!), pool time, shuffleboard and ping pong... and I think I heard someone talk about golf putting competitions... otherwise it's just good conversation, a dozen or so good books... and FOOD!

Marylin:

Sorry to post this so late, and hope it is still of help to you. We cruised the Cloud Stockholm to London last September. This was our first and only (so far) Silversea Cruise. But prior to that, we had cruised Regent (formerly Radisson) numerous times. We found the service, and condition of the ship to be outstanding. The entertainment was quite impressive, and on a scale one would not expect on such a small ship. I won't comment on the food, as that subject is so subjective, except to say we liked it very much. We did have rough seas at times, but the Cloud rode them like a ship four times her size. She was also the most vibration-free ship we have ever cruised. Should itinerary, pricing, and timing all ever come together again as they did for that cruise, we wouldn't hesitate to cruise on the Cloud again.

Thanks,

Richard

Hello to all regarding the Silver Cloud

My DH and I are traveling in November for my 40th and I am thrilled to be aboard for my dream trip to the Seychelles. Thank you for your reviews as it makes it seem all the closer and is quite helpful as it will be our first time with SS. Happy Travels!

I debated between Seychelles, Africa and Dubai and chose Debai when I saw the airfare to Seychelles. I would love to hear about the 40th trip.

I hate to see people cancel trips based on a few reviews. Some of us look and look for posts and snippets of info, but I think we are something like 1% of the bunch that go, aren't we? People who are dissatisfied tend to post more than those that are, as well.

We loved Whisper last year, and our service last month on Wind was even better, as was the staff. We return to Whisper in December because it had the itinerary I wanted. Being an internet hound, I'd prefer Wind or Shadow for wifi in the room, but the others are getting it "soon". I would not hesitate to go on any of the ships and hope I find a 2008 trip that suits our schedules. So far, I haven't found what I am looking for.

Thank you for the posts. Yes, I am thrilled and while every post has a purpose-positive or negative, I am still very excited and appreciate all points as throughout all the cruise forums you can learn a lot and also sometimes prevent hiccups before they happen. We are planning on travelling a few days earlier to spend some time on land before boarding and to get a feel of some of the other smaller islands that we may not visit via the cruise. This is not a "grand" port itinerary (except maybe to me) where we will need to prep for different day excursions-this is predominantly all beach and beautiful scenery... as far as airfare-from the Paris we were looking at $1,250.00 R/T regarding air. This was my wish for my 40th so knowing through research I am just planning accordingly as I couldn't really swing the time or the $$$ for both Botswana and the Seychelles-I would missed something along the way so I made a choice and I am quite pleased. This will be a very special trip. Botswana will happen but at another time.

We have just returned from Clouds cruise Singapore to Dubai - our 10th SS cruise and the best so far. All aspects of the ship were superb and perhaps the most friendly crew we have ever sailed with. The Cruise Director Ron Goodman was outstanding, very hands on and with a wonderful cheery personality. Food in all venues ( apart from Saletta which we did not visit ) was excellent both in content & presentation. Service was first rate ( although a little slow in Terrazza in the evening ).

All in all Silver Cloud remains in top form.

I was seeing air in the 1200s a couple of months ago from Houston going to Dubai and returning from Mumbai, but now it is in the 1300s. No big deal, but since the flights leave Mumbai around midnight, how does one endure so many hours to kill and stay awake w/o doing the SS thing where they give you the room? I am still considering this option, too. I haven't booked air in case we decide to stay longer in India.

Can you elaborate more on anything you did off the ship in Dubai or anywhere else in the U.A.E.? Thanks so much.

Mayflower

Thanks for the quick review. We leave next Wednesday for our 8th SS cruise. This will be our 2nd on the Cloud and of all the SS ships I believe this has been our favorite (more intimate and outstanding service) plus I believe Stefano will be on this cruise. He used to be Manager of La Terrazza but I believe he might be the Maitre'D and we have not seen him in a couple of years.

We have just returned from a Silver Cloud cruise_ April 6th. Silversea are still as good as ever, staff, and passengers all happy. Food was excellent except we did notice lobster wasnt as evident as on previous cruises. Couldnt see much to complain about at all. Our suite 411 seemed a little tired, needed a new bedspread which wouldnt take much doing and on some days the a/c all around the ship seemed to be struggling a bit.

We would sail Silversea over its competitor (begins with S) anytime and we have sailed both.
