Pride of America - Dining - Coastal Viewing ?

Does anyone know or have any suggestions as to when we should NOT dine so as not to miss any coast sights (such as lava flows, Napali Coast, etc.).

We generally like to eat around 8 pm or later, but are flexible and want to be up on deck so that we defintely do not miss any viewings/sights. We do not have a balcony cabin.

Any info helpful. Thx. :)

The lava flow when we were on PofAm was around 9:30 PM to 10:30 PM.

The Na Pali Coast was aroun 5 PM onward. The ship went by the Coast very very slowly and I think it went for 2 hours or so.

We had dinner in the Italian restaurant at 5:30 and had great view out the windows.

They are both not to be missed!

Lava viewing starts around 9:30 on Sunday night, so you will want to be done with dinner by then. The Na Pali coast is in the afternoon, before dinner, so make Friday night a later dinner, after 6:00 pm. You will love them both, so don't miss either!!! :)

The only restaurant that really has any view of the Napali Coast (for viewing on the afternoon and early evening when you leave Kauai) is Little Italy. If you can try and book a WINDOW SEAT there at the time the restaurant opens (5 or 5:30 pm?) for that night. Otherwise dine later that night at any restaurant because by just after dark the ship will be past the Napali coast so you can dine anywhere you want and not miss the view as you will be past the coast. A port side balcony room is a real treat for the sail past the Napali Coast, but if you don't have one then be sure and get up on deck on the port side (ship does NOT turn around for this viewing)!

When you are going past the volcano after Hilo, my suggestion is to dine early enough so that you can be up on deck by about 9:30 pm as they sail past the volcano. The ship goes by with the view from the starboard side first, then turns around 180 degrees for view from the port side.

I did the Na Pali coast viewing from the italian restaurant on pride of America, earliest seating. Most amazing view you could ever have while eating. :) Our balcony was on the wrong (starboard) side, so this worked well for us.
