Ragnar Danneskjold Posted March 9, 2007 #1 Share Posted March 9, 2007 Just read this on another board (keep in mind these are only the people sick enough to report it): March 7 Seven Seas Mariner Regent Seven Seas Cruises The ship reported that 3 of 446 (0.67%) crew and 36 of 614 (5.86%) passengers had reported ill on a 12 day cruise from Lima (Peru) to Fort Lauderdale (25 Feb - 9 Mar). Symptons were consistent with gastrointestinal illness (e.g., norovirus) Illness

BBfromCA Posted March 10, 2007 #3 Share Posted March 10, 2007 Actually Ragnar's report is correct. The CDC lists the cause as "Pending". You can view updates on the CDC site: http://www.cdc.gov/nceh/vsp/surv/GIlist.htm

JDRMYS Posted March 10, 2007 #5 Share Posted March 10, 2007 Looking at the CDC report, the good news is that the perentage of Mariner passengers with the virus is 6.19% -- the lowest percentage of any ship currently reporting. On the QE2 in January, on the World Cruise, it was 16.7%! For those of you sailing on the Mariner, Bon Voyage! Even with the Norovirus on board, I would be happy to change places with you! Ragnar Danneskjold Posted March 10, 2007 Author #6 Share Posted March 10, 2007 Hmmm, maybe we'd better drink our liquor straight, the higher alchohol concentration may help kill the Noro bugs :D

ITravelNow Posted March 11, 2007 #8 Share Posted March 11, 2007 Interesting note....there was an outbreak on the Mariner at almost the same time last year - was it the end of their South American voyage then as well? At any rate - odd timing. Here's the link: http://www.cdc.gov/nceh/vsp/surv/outbreak/2006/update_march9sevenseasmariner.htm
