New Ads

Many of you have noticed and commented on the ads for e.g. Dove and Travelocity that are appearing in the first post of each thread.

 

In particular, some of you have expressed concern that these have been inserted in posts by members themselves (they haven't).

 

Our Community Manager, LauraS, recently commented on these ads:

In fact, the ads are very effective (relatively speaking), and are working well. Also, they are far less intrusive than many "fun" aspects of ALL message board forums, such as countdown clocks, banners, dancing cruiseships, etc etc. Now, before anyone states "I hate those, too"....they also are here to stay. The overwhelming majority love them. And, as you know, you can always turn OFF seeing folks' signatures.

So, please do not be alarmed by the new ads. Thanks!
