OK - I've been surfing CC ever since we decided to do a cruise this year. Now for the stupid newbie question:

 

What in the heck is DW and DH???????

 

I can guess the "wife" and "husband" part but what is the "D" for? I have some ideas but . . . . . . . .

I was wondering that, too. My guess was that it meant "Darling Wife" and "Darling Husband" but I could be wrong..

You are both correct! Here are a few more you may see:

 

dil,sil,mil,fil: daughter-in-law, (son) (mother) (father)

imo or imho: im my opinion or in my humble opinion

btw: by the way

dd, ds: darling daughter (son)

pax: passengers

 

Some of the cruise lines uses abbreviates for their ships as well. Just do like I did when I first started cruising these boards...ask, ask, ask! I have found some of the best people on these boards!

Actually, for wife I sort of prefer the abbreviation used in the woodworking newsgroups on the usenet. They use SWMBO (she who must be obeyed).

dw and dh could mean dear wife or dear husband hey me and the first girl have the same name or one of them the name i sabrina though so hi same name person

The first time my dh saw something I had referred to him as "dh", he thought it ment "something" head....LOL, I couldn't stop laughing when he told me (after he stomped around, steaming for an hour)!
