tobias1 Posted March 17, 2007 #1 Share Posted March 17, 2007 We are sailing on the Pearl two weeks from today (March 30) with our two children, ages 9 and 6. Can anyone tell me if the pool slide is open to children? I just read one review where it indicates the slide is in the adults only pool. Any other kid tips would be greatly appreciated as well. Thanks.

Burly Posted March 17, 2007 #3 Share Posted March 17, 2007 Just got back from the Pearl, and the slides were a blast! I saw kids of all ages on them! Parents with real small children went down the slide together.
F5Loar Posted March 17, 2007 #4 Share Posted March 17, 2007 Another great example of why you should not belive everything you read here. While things can change from week to week on ships rules it's unlikely one person saw the slide on the adults only pool and the next week they changed it back to kids too. One good thing about this board is you usually can get more than one opinion. Many things reported here that happened to one reviewer does not mean it will happen to you when you go. teechadeb Posted March 17, 2007 #5 Share Posted March 17, 2007 The slide is in the "kids only" pool along with the kids jacuzzi (2). I was impressed how the two pools and jacuzzis stay separated. I love children, but when I am on vacation I need my down time. The adult pool and jacuzzi stayed child free for the whole 9 days. The kids pool and slide were packed everyday with children and adults. teechadeb
TanyaAri Posted March 17, 2007 #6 Share Posted March 17, 2007 Our 3 Year old son was addicted to the slide! He was going down on the very first day head first, and loved every minute of it! Good luck keeping them off the slide! ;)

DRMizzou Posted March 17, 2007 #8 Share Posted March 17, 2007 The slide was open to kids and adults. There was usually a staff person at the top of the slide to watch things and assist. They also were quick to blow a whistle if kids (or adults) lingered too long at the bottom of the slide. While the slide is located next to the kid's pool; it is actually set apart from the pool a little bit. When you get out at the bottom of the slide, it is a few steps (maybe 8-10 feet in a walking area with about an inch or 2 of water) to get to the pool. Enjoy!! BettyNL Posted March 31, 2007 #9 Share Posted March 31, 2007 Please clarify: I see that on the PEARL there are two "Tahitian" pools both located on Deck 12. Is one for adults and one for kids?? Are they within hearing (noise) of each other?? Guess there is no covered pool?? Is there a jacuzzi in the Spa?? Questions relate to the fact that we are cruising North in early May, so hoping for at least ONE pool day :D Thanks........

They are directly next to each other within sight, there are also jacuzzi's around the pools. On prior Alaska Cruises the pools were heated, not sure about the Pearl going to Alaska. Chudley Posted March 18, 2014 #11 Share Posted March 18, 2014 I have the same question. We will be on the Pearl in early May. Does the pool have a retractable roof? It seems a little cool to me to be in the pool. At least for this gramma!:D
Demonyte Posted March 18, 2014 #12 Share Posted March 18, 2014 (edited) No covered public pool on any NCL ship. Can't help you with the pools being heated or not. Hot tubs are exactly that though, can't imagine getting cold there. :) Edited March 18, 2014 by Demonyte
Rare KeithJenner Posted March 18, 2014 #13 Share Posted March 18, 2014 I have the same question. We will be on the Pearl in early May. Does the pool have a retractable roof? It seems a little cool to me to be in the pool. At least for this gramma!:D The main pool doesn't have a roof. The one in the Haven does. Cruzn Bills Fan Posted March 18, 2014 #15 Share Posted March 18, 2014 BTW on our recent Pearl cruise one of the guys we were cruising with absolutely soaked a guy sitting on the wall at the end of the slide. It was hilarious! :D:D
Cruzn Bills Fan Posted March 18, 2014 #16 Share Posted March 18, 2014 This thread was started in 2007. The Pearl no longer has a slide and there's no retractable roof. You're wrong about the slide.
Rare KeithJenner Posted March 18, 2014 #17 Share Posted March 18, 2014 This thread was started in 2007. The Pearl no longer has a slide and there's no retractable roof. Yes, but someone resurrected it and asked another question.

Demonyte Posted March 18, 2014 #19 Share Posted March 18, 2014 (edited) You're wrong about the slide. No, it was removed in January this year to make more room for stage on music charters - after your cruise and before the "music charter season" begun this winter. Demonyte Posted March 19, 2014 #21 Share Posted March 19, 2014 Thanks for the quick responses. Just out of curiosity, where is the Haven This is my first time on the Pearl. :) Haven is a private courtyard area for specific (not all) suites. Unless your cabin has "Haven" in it's name, you don't have access, sorry. :)
bliss_fully_happy Posted March 19, 2014 #22 Share Posted March 19, 2014 Called and 100% confirmed the slide is gone. This is our second time on pearl (and we were on jewel and epic) the kids are beyond disappointed. Haven. You will have 0 trouble finding it. You will be escorted onto the ship and given a tour immediately. Then they will take you to cagneys for lunch if you room is not ready yet.
