A First For Us

Ships R Great

Recommended Posts

We have sailed many times but on our last cruise we had a first.

I can only think it was because I saw the Chief Housekeeper one morning and stopped him to tell him that our CS and his Asst. were taking very good care of us. (Actually, I thought he was the Asst. Chief Housekeeper for our cabinn but later found out who he was.) As the man walked away I heard him uttering the two men's names. I thought nothing of it at the time.

But later, when we returned to the cabin that afternoon, there was a bottle of Champagne (X style, that is) from our Cabin Steward. The Chief must have commended him or something.

Has anyone ever had this happen?

Heck, I'll go around complimenting everyone on the ship now! :D

No, seriously, it's nice to see that the message got back to the cabin steward and that his supervisor was obviously very pleased with his work. Too often, customers voice only complaints. It's nice that you took the time and praised someone for a job well done.

I make a point to write a note to the Hotel Manager early on letting him know that we are happy and that so and so has made us especially comfortable and welcome. Lots of times these folks just hear the gripes and I, like him, appreciate compliments on a job well done! We're on vacation - they're not. (I deal with folks on vacation so see it from the other side.)

I have been told by crew members that if they get commendations , or their name combined with a good report on the guest questionaire , then they get extra days off, hols. etc.

I always, always mention the CS and Wait staff by name on the questionnaire. Also any other crew/staff that give good service.

I did not know, until the recent B2B, that the crew see these mentions. I had named Anna (Martini Bar/Cova/Casino) on the first qustionnaire. When I saw her on the second leg she thanked me and told me that the questionnaire responses are posted for crew to see.

Yes, Barbara, she is. She was in the Casino when we left. Don't know if she will still be there in April. She said she would be on until the end. She is such a nice person.

I did not know, until she told us, that the crew sees the comments from the questionnaires. We had made a nice comment about her on the first leg of our B2B. On the second leg she thanked us for it and said the comments were posted for crew to see.

I'm happy to hear that Anna is still aboard. I thought that I had read on these boards that she left Zenith. Too bad she's not still in the Martini Bar, she makes the best martinis, & always with a smile! When we saw her this past summer, she even remembered us from our previous Zenith cruise the prior summer! We'll make sure to say hello next month. What are her duties in the casino?

See you on the 13th!
