Waterlily777 Posted March 23, 2007 #4 Share Posted March 23, 2007 The Caipirinha is my new favorite drink. This is the recipe I prefer. From the PITÚ website: PITÚ BRAZILIAN CAIPIRINHA One-half lime 2 tsp. granulated or bar sugar Crushed ice 2 oz. Pitú Cachaça Garnish with slice of lime Cut lime into small pieces and place in an old-fashioned glass. Add sugar. Muddle lime and sugar with a pestle or spoon. Fill glass with ice. Add Pitú. Put contents in shaker, shake well, return contents to glass and serve.
suzeyQ Posted March 23, 2007 #5 Share Posted March 23, 2007 I love Caipirinha's but I can't seem to make them at home as good as I've had them in restaurants. I think I'm either over- or under- mashing the limes.

anniecat Posted March 24, 2007 #8 Share Posted March 24, 2007 exotic, slight sour/sweet, not rum exactly....I have no idea but I really like them. Even found the Pitu at the local Bevmo. Pitu is a liquor made with cane sugar like rum...but it's taste is not rummy. Can anyone else explain....or course, this weekend I could make a few just to test and decide what the taste is:D
