Will be sailing on the Crown out of San Juan on April 28,07 and just found out that the ship will be leaving from Pan American Pier and not Pier 4 as earlier scheduled. Can anyone tell me how much it will be to take a taxi with 4 people to the Pan American pier or would it be better to book transfers thur Princess.

We took a taxi to the pier. It took roughly about 20 minutes, if that. The taxi prices are set in San Juan, and it is not difficult to get one as they are lined up waiting. I think we paid around $27 for the 4 of us...which was way cheaper than the transfer from our cruise line.

Hi, travelchic3: We're on that cruise too. Come on over and join us on our roll call. We have at least 70 other people on our roll call that you should meet. We even have a Meet & Greet set up.

As for the taxi prices... Miramar is closest to Pan Am Pier and the below prices are for the cab - NOT per person.

"Taxis are available at the airport, hotels and major tourist points. In the tourism zones, rates are fixed and posted. Outside the zones, taxis are metered and can be hired by the hour.

Fixed rates - Tourist zones:

Airport / Isla Verde - $10.00

Airport / Condado / Miramar - $14.00

Airport / Pier Area in Old San Juan - $19.00

Piers / Old San Juan - $7.00

Piers / Condado / Miramar - $12.00

Piers / Isla Verde - $19.00

Piers / Plaza Las Américas Shopping Mall - $14.00

Piers / Plaza Carolina Shopping Mall - $24.00

Piers 1, 4, 6 & Navy Frontier / El Morro - $6.00

Panamerican Piers / El Morro - $10.00

Note: $0.50 per each piece of luggage, excluding hand pieces, and an additional charge of $1.00 per piece, after three pieces."

And, NO, don't book the transfers unless you want to pay double and have to wait at the airport until they have a full bus, then have to wait again when you get off the bus as the 30-60 other folks on the bus get in line in front of you at the pier. Better for the 4 of you to grab one cab and get to the pier before all those waiting for the bus. How knows? If you are coming in on my plane, we could share that taxi.
