multiple bookings for the same cruise/passengers?

Recommended Posts

So here's my situation. I am sailing to Alaska in August, but I have yet to find a roommate. Today there is a fantastic single rate so now I'm torn - do I switch to the single reservation or keep the double? Knowing that I will have to make two deposits could I actually reserve both and cancel the one I don't want (before final pay of course)? The difference between the 200% supplement and the special rate is about $400, so it's not small. If I switch to the single then find a roommate later, can I just go back to paying 200% (for 2), or do I lose my rate? Anyone ever done this? Is the system actually smart enough to block two bookings by the same passenger on the same sailing?
