If anyone has experienced these places via ship, please comment! Would you say there was much to see and do? Would you recommend them? Please post your thoughts and experiences. Thanks!

Ilhéus is a small port in southern Bahia. It was the center of the cacao plantations principal export port. Two excursions are available: a day in a beatifull beach, with beach chairs, sun umbrellas and good beer and local food. The other goes to Itacaré: a resort in the middle of a natural preservation area.

We always go to the beach (3 times in the last 2 years) by taxi hired on the pier.
