Shore excursion vs. bad weather

We will be in doing shore excursion on our own, as well as through Carnival in early May. Does it make sense to book these excursion in advance or wait until we know what the weather will be like ( for snorkeling and sailing). I'd hate to lock myself into an outdoor excusion on a rainy day - which is not refundable according to the cruise line. On the other hand, I'd be disappointed if the excusion was sold out. What is the best way to "time" such purchases. We will be in Antiqua and Tortola in early May.

I would book now if you have your heart really set on something. Also, you most likely won't be able to decide the day of the tour if you want to go or not (unless you don't book through the cruise line)

I have been on cruises where the weather is bad and the cruiseline has cancelled snorkeling and sailing tours, but they credit your account accordingly. Usually if the weather is bad, the ocean is pretty rough so they don't usually take chances...

Hope that helps!

The weather in the Caribbean can look horrible on the weather channel, (intermittent rain, etc.) but know that if there is rain, it is usually gone quickly, and isn't everywhere! In all of our cruises, we have only experienced rain one time, and it lasted only about 1/2 hour.

I'd book what you want and be ready to enjoy a wonderful day!
