Renewing wedding vows

My DH and I would like to renew our vows for our 32nd anniversary on Diamond Princess in Jan/08. Does anyone have any information with the questions below?

Is it done as a group?

Do we get to say our own vows individually or is this also done as a group talking all at the same time, repeating his words?

Can we say our vows written in our own words or does the Captain have a standard vow renewal that he repeats to everyone?

Last question, I promise!

Do we get to pick the night we would like to renew (its a 15 day cruise to Hawaii)or does the cruiseline pick that date?

The information on Princess website is very limited and it doesn't go into detail other then its available with Princess Cruiseline

I really appreciate your help, and I know if there is anyone who might know, its this place. You people are amazing on how much information you know!

I've learned so much since becoming a member.

Thank you in advance!

Hi, Here's some of the info that I've posted before about vow renewal - I hope it helps. ;)

DH and I just renewed our vows onboard the Star. It was our 25th anniversary and it was wonderful.

It was a private ceremony - if you don't count the 15 or so people we invited once we got onboard. We wanted it on the second sea day as that was our actual anniversary and that's exactly what happened.

All the arrangements are made by an events coordinator - one of the pursar's staff and ours was terrific. We asked for our door to be decorated and on our anniversary day, it was. You walk in together. The Captain is waiting for you and greets you at the podium. We did an exchange of rings as well.

You'll get a letter sent to your cabin with all the details and then after the ceremony you'll get a copy of the vows as well as a certificate signed by the Captain.

We did the $205 package and it included my bouquet, DH's boutonnière, champagne, two champagne glasses, a formal portrait, a ships photographer to record the whole thing...and I may be forgetting something...

Again, we loved it. It was beautifully done and very moving. I didn't expect it to be so emotional.

The vow renewal is usually done on sea days/formal nights in the early evening before the Captain's Welcome Party or Captain's Circle Parties.

The vows are your standard wedding vows - slightly varied because they reflect upon your time together. It was very special.

We also had a private ceremony and did nothing special to get that. We did it for our 35th anniversary, chose the less expensive package, and were given a specific time on the first formal night. It was held in the on board chapel. Our daughter and her family were there and attended as well. We paid extra for our granddaughter to get a bouquet of flowers as she was our flower girl. It was wonderful. Also, my bouquet was all orchids - lovely!

Crusdiva, how did you get a private cermony? According to the website, it's a group cermony.

DH and I also had a private ceremony. This is largely determined by how many couples have selected the vow renewal on a given cruise. We happened to be the only ones on our January '07 cruise on the Dawn, so we were able to choose the day/time - per the Captain's schedule, of course. We chose Saturday, January 27 that happened to be my 57th birthday; we had celebrated our 35th anniversary last June 25. It wasn't a formal night but we dressed formally for the 5:00PM ceremony. We went to the Wheelhouse afterwards for Champagne cocktails followed by dinner for two in "anytime" dining but were escorted to a lovely table in the traditional dining room.

The only group ceremony I've ever seen was the one on the Star this past Valentine's Day in the Atrium with about 30 couples.

Everyone I've ever talked to (Hi Chris! ;) ) has had a private ceremony. There were 2 or 3 scheduled on the same day as our's but each was done separately in the chapel with the Captain and their guests.

i work for princess and i have never seen there be too many people for them to do it individually. even on valentines they were individual (although they did have a big group one which was free, but that was different). you are in charge and can basically ask the purser assisting you for whatever you like....i have even seen the string quartet playing at one ROV ceremony which was lovely!!!! its a really nice package! (and no, im not working on any kind of comission!)

This board is excellent for information!!! Thank you so much for all the replies.

Can I have this reserved on the Priincess website or TA or do I have to wait until I get on the ship to plan this?

Bruce and I thought we had made all of the arrangements with Princess before we sailed but when we got onboard there was no record of it  .

No problem, we met with the Asst. Pursar and everything was PERFECT!

I know many people who made the arrangements once they got onboard.

DH ordered the vow renewal package on-line and had it sent to me as an onboard gift. When we arrived at our stateroom after embarkation, a "gift card" awaited me along with a letter from the Junior Assistant Purser who helped us with the details of the ceremony.
