How do we know our luggage will make it when we don't have an assigned deck or stateroom yet? Cruise is on Thursday, I called Carnival tonight and was told we would find out our stateroom when we check in...AFTER we drop off the bags...is it safe?? In the past we had an assigned stateroom so no worries.

When you get to the port and drop your luggage off with the porters they will have a manifest with all the cabin assignments you can fill out new luggage tags there (they will have plenty) We always print out all the information we need for our tags on label paper and bring a sharpie to fill in the room # when we get it.

When we were on Carnival last October we knew we had been upgraded from the room for which we had luggage tags. If we hadn't checked the Carnival site and knew our room was changed we would have turned over our bags with the luggage tags mailed to us. I'm sure our luggage would have eventually found us. The folks who handle luggage at the pier don't work for Carnival and the man didn't have a manifest list to verify what we said. He gave us new tags, we filled them out, and he threw them in the luggage collection area. Not really reassuring but all worked out ok. Check the Carnival website and make sure your room hasn't changed prior to sailing.

There is always a a manifest list, it is usually at a small stand somewhere near the drop off area, all the porter had to do was walk over and check it for you.

I guess if he did that he may have though he would loose out on some tips.
