Southern here too... but I'd rather not sail out of San Juan... like to stop there as a port though ;)

I also choose the southern routes. Both of them are great. And you get the highlights of the eastern route anyway... St. Thomas and St. Maarten. If you have never been to Nassau I guess the eastern route would be ok but I don't care to ever go there again.
