OhioJeff Posted April 26, 2007 #7 Share Posted April 26, 2007 is this a conquest class ship? No, I guess its Splendor class, although I dont think Carnival has officially called it that. This ship was designed for Costa, I believe then they decided to let Carnival have it. Here is the initial press release. http://www.carnival.com/CMS/Articles/splendor_name.aspx
PaulMedik Posted April 26, 2007 #8 Share Posted April 26, 2007 Couple of pics of the Costa Concordia which has the center pool area enclosed. Seems to be the main difference from Conquest class. Note the big screen's there too!

EdukatedRedHed Posted April 26, 2007 #19 Share Posted April 26, 2007 OMG OMG OMG! Thank you so much for this link! I talked to a PVP yesterday and asked when the Splendor would be going to Northern Europe and she said "July & August." I automatically assumed she meant THIS July. I was bummed b/c there is NO way I can take 3 vacations this year (Spirit in 4 weeks and Disney in December!) However, now that I know it's in 2008 ... HERE I COME! That is an AWESOME itinerary! My bday is in August ... guess what I want next year? :D

You do now, or did you mean you wouldn't want to face your fellow pax that close. ;) Actually, as you probably are aware, most turn their chairs to face the sun anyway. dbcruzin Posted April 26, 2007 #22 Share Posted April 26, 2007 is this a conquest class ship? In essence, yes. Same layout but with 2000 more GRT. But remember, that doesn't mean weight, it means space ratio and capacity. So, I'm guessing they just redesigned things to create more usable space. You can go back a couple of years in Carnival's press releases for the info. I hope my answer wasn't too technical. :p
