See I'm an ex smoker (and very sensitive to the scent) and I never had any problem with smokey smells on the ship. I did see people smoking here and there but the rooms and corridors were fine. I was on the upper deck so maybe it was a non smoking floor but it was the balcony floor and I would think that is where a lot of smokers want to be. Anyway, I had no problem with smoke smell.

We would get off the elevator at the Promenade deck and it would hit you. The casino is on that floor and it is rather open, so the stale smell always lingers. Near the lounge, I believe you were allowed to smoke back there too. So that whole area always had a smell to it.

As much as I wanted to listen to music in the Neon Room, it was too smokey. They hold afternoon tea there also. I would not participate because of the stale smoke smell.

I have to say that the casino STUNK of cigarette smoke. You could just walk by in the afternoon when it was still closed and the old stale smoke smell would just be hanging like a cloud on the Promenade area outside the casino.

Of course, this didn't keep DH and I out of the casino! We still spent plenty of time there.

This is one area I wish Carnival would pay more attention to. Surely there is some way to increase the ventilation around the casino area, get some smoke eaters, something!

Sailing June 2009 on Ecstasy in Cat 12 room. Read that Cat 12 gets VIP loading.Where is VIP embarkation located?

Sometimes they will have a VIP line at security, depends on how busy it is at any given time. Beyond Security you find the VIP check in located in two small rooms to the left of the counters. There will be someone (usually the same guy, I'll have to ask his name). there to check your VIP status. There is not really a lounge, but some tables & chairs near the photo area to wait. Not great, but at least that is more than they used to have at Galveston.

BTW-Bayport has wonderful VIP facilities.

Has anyone signed up for carnival to assign their room and got good upgrades?

Last time we were booked for an OV room, assigned to the Riviera deck, and when we arrived found out they had upgraded us (for free) to the Verandah Cat 11 balcony. It was great! :D

Wow... this is a mighty long thread to surf thru. I have a couple Ecstasy questions that I haven't found answers to yet. Anyone have experience with cabins E22, E26, E27 or right around there on the Empress deck? I noticed they are under the theatre, so just wondering about that location. And also about movement issues being so close to the front.

Also, I heard they have coffee in the atrium bar on the Empress deck. Does anyone know if there's coffee there in the morning, or do we need to get our coffee fix thru either room service or treck to Lido?

Thanks!

If you eat any meals in the dining room, you can order capachino or espresso for free. We liked the capachino and had it every night after dinner. I hear you can get it for lunch or breakfast as well.

They do not. Sorry Ship ADD. you may have got one for your Platinum status but normally they do not have this tour available.

I have never actually taken the galley tour, but I thought I remembered seeing one on the capers last time.

I have seen enuf of what goes on in the galley on the Travel Channel -- I have never used any of my cruise time to see it first-hand.

If they offered a bridge or engine room tour, I would probably do that.

on my first Ectasy cruise. Not my first cruise by any means and not my first from Galveston. I am wondering what night is the Elegant night now on the 5 night cruise? And what is the color scheme is the cabins now? It looks like they are brown and cream in the pictures but I can't be sure. Does anyone know who the musicians will be on the March 2 cruise? I have no idea how you would go about finding out. And one more question....how do you know how many ships will be in port each day? One site I used previously is no longer free and I want to save all my money for the DODs!!:D

Elegant night will be on day two. All of our cabins have been maroon/white/gray (oceanview) and very nice.

Wish we were going, we love this ship, the crew and Progreso.:)

Thanks Kingfish. And as far as I know, there are still cabins available so come on!:D

You're very welcome. You can see some pics at the link in our signature.

Also, we'd love to join you but could not possibly get another vacation so soon :(

Why don't you join us on the Conquest in Sept? :)

Hey everyone! I'm on a lot of message boards for various things, and from the looks of it the people on this one are by far the nicest.

Hmm, I wonder if it has anything to do with the fact that it's all about fun and vacation? Who wouldn't love that?

As for me, my first cruise is going to be on the Ecstasy in October of this year. I'm taking my wife for her birthday. I haven't booked yet, though. I'm planning to book in time to use the free upgrade to a higher-class inside stateroom.

Anyway, I have two questions, but I'm sure I'll come up with more later.

1: When is drydock, and what exactly will be done when it's docked? From looking at the ship's schedule, it looks like there is nothing from mid-September until an October 17 departure.

2: What are peoples' opinions of the inside staterooms on the Verandah deck? I see there are eight of them. Is one better than the others?

Thanks for any help you could give!
