want2cruiseagain Posted September 25, 2008 #976 Share Posted September 25, 2008 See I'm an ex smoker (and very sensitive to the scent) and I never had any problem with smokey smells on the ship. I did see people smoking here and there but the rooms and corridors were fine. I was on the upper deck so maybe it was a non smoking floor but it was the balcony floor and I would think that is where a lot of smokers want to be. Anyway, I had no problem with smoke smell. We would get off the elevator at the Promenade deck and it would hit you. The casino is on that floor and it is rather open, so the stale smell always lingers. Near the lounge, I believe you were allowed to smoke back there too. So that whole area always had a smell to it. As much as I wanted to listen to music in the Neon Room, it was too smokey. They hold afternoon tea there also. I would not participate because of the stale smoke smell.
hillbillycruisers Posted September 26, 2008 #977 Share Posted September 26, 2008 Neither of us are smokers, but I think we can survive as long as our room doesnt smell like smoke..THAT would be a problem...from what I read on here, I dont think that will be anything to worry about :)
cruisekwazee Posted September 26, 2008 #978 Share Posted September 26, 2008 I sailed the Ecstasy Sept 6th to 11th and I loved every minute of it. I thought she was an awesome ship and I am sensitive to smoke but it wasn't so bad that I couldn't be around some of the places. You will have a fantasic time. Ship Addict Posted September 26, 2008 #979 Share Posted September 26, 2008 I have to say that the casino STUNK of cigarette smoke. You could just walk by in the afternoon when it was still closed and the old stale smoke smell would just be hanging like a cloud on the Promenade area outside the casino. Of course, this didn't keep DH and I out of the casino! We still spent plenty of time there. This is one area I wish Carnival would pay more attention to. Surely there is some way to increase the ventilation around the casino area, get some smoke eaters, something!

AllyGirl13 Posted November 19, 2008 #983 Share Posted November 19, 2008 In the Galveston terminal, it was to the left of where the normal check in line is. I don't know the extent of damage from Ike to the terminal but that's where it was the last time we boarded her....
Snoozeman Posted November 19, 2008 #984 Share Posted November 19, 2008 Sailing June 2009 on Ecstasy in Cat 12 room. Read that Cat 12 gets VIP loading.Where is VIP embarkation located? Sometimes they will have a VIP line at security, depends on how busy it is at any given time. Beyond Security you find the VIP check in located in two small rooms to the left of the counters. There will be someone (usually the same guy, I'll have to ask his name). there to check your VIP status. There is not really a lounge, but some tables & chairs near the photo area to wait. Not great, but at least that is more than they used to have at Galveston. BTW-Bayport has wonderful VIP facilities.

pearose Posted January 11, 2009 #987 Share Posted January 11, 2009 Has anyone signed up for carnival to assign their room and got good upgrades? Last time we were booked for an OV room, assigned to the Riviera deck, and when we arrived found out they had upgraded us (for free) to the Verandah Cat 11 balcony. It was great! :D
klmorg Posted January 11, 2009 #988 Share Posted January 11, 2009 Wow... this is a mighty long thread to surf thru. I have a couple Ecstasy questions that I haven't found answers to yet. Anyone have experience with cabins E22, E26, E27 or right around there on the Empress deck? I noticed they are under the theatre, so just wondering about that location. And also about movement issues being so close to the front. Also, I heard they have coffee in the atrium bar on the Empress deck. Does anyone know if there's coffee there in the morning, or do we need to get our coffee fix thru either room service or treck to Lido? Thanks! zertywert Posted January 11, 2009 #989 Share Posted January 11, 2009 Hi! I am not sure about coffee at the atrium bar, but there is coffee at the lido resturant all the time. There is also a coffee bar that is open all the time. I think. My friend got hot chocolate there at 4:00am.:) It costs extra though.
Ship Addict Posted January 11, 2009 #990 Share Posted January 11, 2009 they have a galley tour but no bridge tour. You can also have coffee delivered to your room via room service as well as in the dining rooms for all the meals.

Does anyone know if there's coffee there in the morning, or do we need to get our coffee fix thru either room service or treck to Lido? Thanks! If you eat any meals in the dining room, you can order capachino or espresso for free. We liked the capachino and had it every night after dinner. I hear you can get it for lunch or breakfast as well.
Ship Addict Posted January 12, 2009 #994 Share Posted January 12, 2009 They do not. Sorry Ship ADD. you may have got one for your Platinum status but normally they do not have this tour available. I have never actually taken the galley tour, but I thought I remembered seeing one on the capers last time. I have seen enuf of what goes on in the galley on the Travel Channel -- I have never used any of my cruise time to see it first-hand. If they offered a bridge or engine room tour, I would probably do that.
rav4lady Posted January 12, 2009 #995 Share Posted January 12, 2009 on my first Ectasy cruise. Not my first cruise by any means and not my first from Galveston. I am wondering what night is the Elegant night now on the 5 night cruise? And what is the color scheme is the cabins now? It looks like they are brown and cream in the pictures but I can't be sure. Does anyone know who the musicians will be on the March 2 cruise? I have no idea how you would go about finding out. And one more question....how do you know how many ships will be in port each day? One site I used previously is no longer free and I want to save all my money for the DODs!!:D

bdub3535 Posted January 13, 2009 #1000 Share Posted January 13, 2009 Hey everyone! I'm on a lot of message boards for various things, and from the looks of it the people on this one are by far the nicest. Hmm, I wonder if it has anything to do with the fact that it's all about fun and vacation? Who wouldn't love that? As for me, my first cruise is going to be on the Ecstasy in October of this year. I'm taking my wife for her birthday. I haven't booked yet, though. I'm planning to book in time to use the free upgrade to a higher-class inside stateroom. Anyway, I have two questions, but I'm sure I'll come up with more later. 1: When is drydock, and what exactly will be done when it's docked? From looking at the ship's schedule, it looks like there is nothing from mid-September until an October 17 departure. 2: What are peoples' opinions of the inside staterooms on the Verandah deck? I see there are eight of them. Is one better than the others? Thanks for any help you could give!
