Pools on Celebrity Infinity?

My kids (5 and 7) are so excited about our upcoming cruise on the Infinity. We have always been on Princess cruises, so this will be different for us. I looked at the layout of the Infinity and see that there is an open deck pool and an Aqua spa indoor pool. Can children swim in that indoor Aquaspa pool? Is there an "indoor" pool for kids to swim in on the Infinity? We are going to Alaska, so an indoor pool is a must.

Also, are there things about the Infinity or Celebrity cruises that we should know that will make children's cruise that much fun-ner? Basically, I'm looking for the differences between Princess and Celebrity from a parent's point of view.

We have late dinner seating because we booked late. My kids eat relatively early and 8:30pm dining would be too late. What are the chances of switching to first seating dining? We are on the waiting list for first seating.

TIA.

I have not yet sailed on Celebrity *but* since RCCL and Celebrity are owned by the same company I can assume that the indoor pool on Infinity is like the Solarium pools on RCCL. All of the solarium pools are adult only. On the Alaska itineraries, there are scheduled hours where the kids can swim in the indoor pools.

Edited to say, nevermind...I found it. The Aqua Spa is a jet hot tub for adults only.

The "inside" pool on the Infinity is adults only. It is part of the Aqua Spa. You and your kids will love the Alaska cruise on the Infinity. There is much for the kids to see and do, but swimming will not likely be one of them. There are a few hot tubs that they can try, but it will probably be too cool for swimming, although there were kids in the main pool on our cruise.

I agree -- great ship, terrific kids area, but the indoor pool was off limits to kids. I sailed on Infinity in the Carribean, so it may be different in Alaska, but I wouldn't count on it. My kids really liked the kids programs -- the best of any ship we've sailed on. But I haven't sailed on RCCL (yet) or Princess.

The indoor pool on all of the Millenium Class ships are adult only and strictly enforced.

However, the outdoor pools on Alaska cruises are usually heated. I have done 4 Alaska cruises- twice on Princess and twice on Norwegian and the pools were heated to 98 degrees. So don't worry I am sure that the Infinity pool will be too.

And of course they can use the hot tubs.

One path to consider as far a dining is concern is Celebrity Select. If it is still available you can eat when you wish. You can also make a reservation for the time you prefer. Otherwise, you can always check out what is being offered on the deck 10 buffet. They have several made to order dishes including many pasta choices.

The indoor pool is adults only unfortunately. One reason we never looked into doing an Alaska for now (I have 2 and 4 year olds). I don't think the outdoor pool is heated but I could be wrong. There are hot tubs - but I don't let the girls use them so I can't tell you the rules on them. I don't think that the indoor pool has a family swim time on cruises to places like Alaska - but I would ask over on the Celebrity board because they would know better.

My older DD did the 3-5 program last year on the Summit to Bermuda and LOVED the fun factory. If they can't swim I would definitely plan to give them time in the fun factory. They had a lot of fun activities. Everything from music themed blocks of time, to superheros (they made masks, and capes, practiced moves and paraded around), pirate themed activities. It is a mix of arts and crafts, games, treasure hunts etc. They even have some afternoons with things like sundae making and cupcake decorating (we had to skip these due to food allergies). Most of the kids we saw in there were being dragged out kicking and screaming. So definitely plan to make use of it. We had early seating so our girls were eat and when they finished the older would go up to the fun factory to play and our younger one would walk with her grandparents while we finished our meal. Since you have late seating you have 2 choices - feed the kids before late seating either through room service OR the buffet then let them play in the fun factory - their evening free hours were 7-10 on our sailing (or you could pay and they could eat in the fun factory 5-7 for $6 a hour). Then you can go and have a relaxing dinner with just the two of you. Or you could try to switch to anytime dining and then try to dine early each evening. That way you could be more on your own schedule and still enjoy a nice meal with your children and get the best of both worlds.

They must have changed the policy on the Infinity for that indoor pool. We cruised on that ship 2 summers ago and just lived in that pool. It was great.

They might have a different policy on the Alaskan cruises - but in the indoor pool on all the celebrity ships is adults only. (I think it is 16 and older but it could be 18). I would ask this on the Celebrity board. I know on our Summit cruise my children could not use the indoor pool.

I've sailed the Infinity twice to Alaska. The indoor pool is heated but they will not allow children in it. Both times we cruised Alaska, there were only a few people braving the outdoor pool. While we love Celebrity and the Infinity, we are excited for our upcoming NCL Jewel Alaska trip, as our children will be with us this time and I know they will want to swim in the pool. I hear that the Jewel's pools are heated nicely. Here's hoping...
