Cruising this June 30, to Alaska on the Serenade. Can anyone tell me their experience with the weather? Is it warmer in June?? Thanks!

It can be warm on land, we had a lot of rain and cool temps, remember when you're cruising the glaciers it will be a lot cooler, and yes the wind on the decks.

If you are on the Serenade on that departure, you will be one of the lucky ones to be in Skagway on July 4th! Do yourselves a favor and do not book any excursions for that morning and you will step back in time to an era when this was the BIG holiday in all of the USofAye!?! We still treat it that way with the longest parade per capita in the known world! We usually have the best weather of the summer on that day. (they even stop the snowfall for the parade!?!)

Then , if you are a lover of flowers, you can ask at the National Park Service about how to get out to Dyea for what is usually the peak for the largest field of wild Irises in all of North America!

There will be a 4;30 train that day and what a way to end your visit with us!

There is no need to pre book any of this because there is always room for all of these things! Lucky you! DD

We sailed the second week of June last year, and it was 84 in Juneau!!!!!

We did wear coats and gloves at the Glacier, and took raingear for Ketchikan, but it only misted there. We had no rain the whole week, and mostly just wore ligh jackets or sweatshirts out on deck.

Have a wonderful time.

Wow dyeadave! Thanks for the great info and YES we will be there ALL DAY on the 4th. I think we sail around 9p if i'm not mistaken. We have 8 kids in our group ranging from 20 months to 17 years old and it sounds like this might be the best stop yet for the kids! We can't wait! :)
