Anyone use shuttle service from Port of Miami to FLL recently?

Recommended Posts

Hi All,

I posted this question on the east coast depature board, but wanted to reach out on the RCCL board, too.

I'm sailing next week, and am still trying to decide on how we return to FLL from Port of miami after our cruise.

I have an Avis reservation (thanks Acrossenger), and I've looked up the quote for tri-county express shuttle to do a scheduled pick-up at the Port, which would be $122.5 for 2 including tip.

I've read other posts here on CC that mentioned many shuttles waiting at the Port to transport to FLL, but since our 5 nighter on Explorer returns on a Wednesday, I'm concerned that those "no reservation" shuttles may not be there for a mid-week return.

I'm also concerned that FLL doesn't have a lot to it, so if we get there at 8:30 or 9, we may get bored waiting for our noon flight.

Anyone have thoughts, suggestions or experiences to share- please chime in.

TIA, and happy sailings,

Wendy

And the experience was terrible. About 10 cabs went by before taking us to the office. They kept saying "we can't fit you" (which was just 2 adults, 2 children and luggage.) Now, I understand that they can get in "trouble" for not taking people where they want to go. But they were more concerned with getting the longer (more expensive) ride to the airport. We got jacked anyway (pricewise). Live and learn. I think Alamo has a shuttle that will take you to their office. Next time I will go for convenience and not the cheapest price. The people working in the office didn't have their act together either. We got there about 8:10 (they open at 8:00) and waited for 20 minutes because no one could get the safe open that held all the rental car keys!!

Since you are getting off your ship on a Wednesday (we got off on a Saturday morning), getting a cab might not be an issue. Good luck with whatever you decide.

thanks for the thought, Melsdt, but I did just call RCCL, and the earliest flight departure they would accept for their Port of Miami to FLL shuttle was 12:30pm, so we miss that by 30 minutes.

The cost was $28 pp in case that works for anyone else.
