When Will NCL Post New Itineraries for Hawaii

I have called NCL numerous times over the past 2 months re: Hawaii schedules for the remainder of 2008 and have been told many different things about when to expect the new Hawaii itineraries. For 2 months now I have been told "any day now," or "within the next couple of weeks" or the occasional "check back at the end of the summer." No one seems to know. Does anyone have any knowledge about when they normally post them? We are looking at Sept. 2008. I know that's a long time off yet, but some of the other cruise lines have them posted. With all the chatter about higher prices and withdrawing one of the ships from service in Hawaii, I am getting quite anxious to book.

I'm curious, too. I've been checking at least every few days since the other NCL itineraries started going up. We're looking at June 2008, but if NCL doesn't get its act together soon, I'm going to have to start looking at land-based options. (NCL, are you listening?!?)

Yes, I hope NCL is listening. Other cruise lines have their Hawaii itinenaries out. I'm just waiting for NCL because I prefer not to have the ocean crossing but I'm ready to book and I will consider other lines or just doing a land vacation if they don't get posted very soon.

I wish I had your options! We're going there for a class reunion, so it's either NCL or land-based. If only there were still ships willing to do one-ways... :p

BTW, just checked -- the itineraries are still not up.

I've been waiting also, I'm planning a large group of family and friends and all the other cruise lines have their itineraries listed. I called NCL yesterday the the customer service person acted quite rude and only said they will be out by September. I've experienced this type of reaction from NCL customer service before, so my guess is that we will find out from someone on this board before NCL agents know they are available.

NCL in the UK offer a trip called "a journey to fire and ice" which is a 2 cruise trip taking in Alaska first then Hawaii,we would love to do this next August, when i called NCL in the uk the agent said the new brochure would be out on the 1st june but the Hawaii dates could be released at any time before this date. cheers Iain.

I sure hope so. I have experienced some rudeness from customer service reps when I call NCL. I have been told any day now for over 2 mos and I have also had the reps say not until September. Right now the latest 08 departure for any Hawaii cruise is April 19, 2008 and I cannot fathom that they would wait until Sept. to release more sailing dates since we are already under the one year mark (don't lots of people plan vacations a year or more in advance - especially pricey ones - it is going to be quite a high price tag after cruise price, air fare, excursions, onboard charges, etc.). Anyway, I am trying to stay upbeat about it because I really am excited about this trip. I am hoping that the reps who say any day now know what they are talking about and the ones that say September and are cranky because people are asking re the ones who are wrong. If anyone hears any news on this please be sure to post ASAP. Thanks

  • 3 weeks later...

I am still checking daily on the web site for the new itineraries and nothing.... I wonder if something else is in the works other than pulling the Pride of Hawaii out in Feb. 2008? Since there is only supposed to be two ships sailing after Feb. 2008 in Hawaii, you would think that the itineraries would be relatively easy to get finalized and published.

They will have to post soon, I believe the competition has already posted. I think NCLA hasn't decided what to charge yet. I suspect a big price increase in an attempt to raise prices for Hawaiian cruises with a lesser number of cabins available to stem the red ink.

babyjmomma - when are you planning your cruise? We are thinking the first or second week in Sept. 2008?

Don - how much do you suspect they might be considering raising the prices? Do you think they are going to completely price themselves out so that people can't affordably go anymore? Do you think that a person would be better to book right away or hold off and see what the reaction to the prices brings (perhaps a moderation in prices if people aren't booking at higher prices). This is not going to be a cheap vacation by any means and I felt that it was stretching it to go - it's all the add ons that kill you (excursions, drinks, etc.) I guess we can modify the plans and do an all-inclusive vacation in the Carribbean. I love all-inclusives but the thought of finally seeing Hawaii is what is driving me.

I also hope they don't raise the prices too much. I had so much fun last week that I told DH we must go back next May. But I think the $1200 we paid for our balcony cabin was right in line considering the overall fair-to-average quality of food and entertainment. If the price goes up I'll sail with Celebrity instead.

If they can't get much more then $1200 soon NCLA will be gone. NCL is getting 2200 pp for balconies on the GEM in NYC next Feb. 1200 just pays for 4 nights in a hotel in Hawaii.

Those looking for a bargain in Hawaii go now.

Didn't mean to mislead, shoreguy. It was $1200 per person. So $350+/- a day (total) for the teeny cabin with the great transportation was reasonable. We have a Sky Suite on the Mercury next week and it was only $1529pp with great food, entertainment, and a casino. But it's Alaska, not Hawaii. ;)

Aloha!

The arrival of the Hawaiian Super Ferry may have something to do with it. Beginning this summer you can travel from Ohau to Kauai and/or Maui with yoru car and gear six days a week, The BI will follow in 2009. Check it out at Hawaiisuperferry.com.

Mahalo for asking

Yes, the Superferry is coming in July, and another ferry will join her in two years which will include the island of Hawaii too. However, they do not have any cabins. Have you priced Hawaiian hotels lately? NCLA will still be a great bargain.
