Back from Rhapsody 4/22/07

Recommended Posts

Just returned sunday from the Rhapsody. We were blessed with great weather and calm seas. This was my 5th cruise on Rhapsody and there have been changes since the last time I cruised her. The service in cabin as well as in dining room was terrific. The shows were very good and the passengers were very friendly. I did not encounter even one person that was negative. the biggest change to me was the food. It was not nearly as good as in the past. There was plenty of it it for sure, but the quality was not the same. Most of the meat was tough, except for the second formal night and the prime rib was very good. My biggest disappointment was the Windjammer, food was always just so-so.

I removed any and all bottles from luggage that I checked so that nobody would paw through my luggage looking for booze. I had 15 bottles in my carry on and a soft-sided cooler with 6 bottles of Diet Pepsi, they never wanted to look at anything and just waived us through. I had expected to be there opening each bottle but had no trouble with that at all. We loved the new bedding, very, very nice!

We will be on Rhapsody June 10. This is the first time on her. What are your recommendations for things to do on the ship. Is there cost involve and if so how much? We are trying to budget what we need for extras on the ship besides drinks and bingo. Glad you had a great time! The next few weeks are so slow!! :(

Hey you'll be on the Rhapsody the week before we are! and you are right about the weeks going sloooooowww  .

Other things you may want to think about budgeting is casino spending, photographs, the spa, shore excursions and shopping.

We were aware that they were going through checked luggage looking for liquor in other type bottles. We were not trying to smuggle anything, but would rather have them go through the carryon rather than destroy our nicely packed luggage. We had suntan lotion, pump hairspray, wrinkle remover, room deodorizer, mouthwash etc. I was prepared to open all of them at the security check, but they said nothing and we breezed through. We did the trolley tour in key West and really liked it. The people there can be pretty bizarre and we love watching them. We didn't get off the ship in Grand Cayman. In Cozumel we went shopping and went to Senor Frogs, it was disappointing as it is a 1/2 Senor Frogs, no dance floor, no balloon hats etc, but the margaritas and nachos were excellant. Chankanaub Park is wonderful, but we book excursions privately on the internet. We loved swimming with the Sea Lions there.

I'm not sure why you were worried about this, we were on the same cruise on Rhapsody and checked a cooler containing bottled water and sodas, and had most of the items you mention in our check baggage. Nothing was opened or looked through.
