Drinks prices/choice

Does anyone have up to date info on drinks prices in the bars/restaurants eg example of price of beer, red wine, 'Princess Colada'

We cruised on Sea Princess a couple of years ago and they were selling 'Stella' lager draught, which was rather good, although I imagine that was because it had just converted from P&O and the Grand Princess may not have the same European beers?

Also saw reference to a 'coffee card'. Anyone know how this works or of any other combo deals that might exist?

Thanks very much for any guidance.

Regards

Graeme

That is a fairly complicated answer..the price of beer depends on the brand and the size...the red wine depends on the brand (even by the glass)....and the Princess Colada comes in 3 sizes

the beer combo is "XX" Mexican beer....you get a bucket of 5 for about $15 plus the normal 15% gratuity

I think the beer is about 3.50 to 4.50 per bottle depending on brand (import or domestic). There are specials on most brands. (buy a bucket of 5 and get 1 free). The Pina Colada was about 5.50 for the regular size. The Princess Colada was about 1.00 more than that (I guess due to the extra shot of rum):) Wine prices Vary. but for an average "house wine" its about 7.00 per glass.

A tip: we found out during our recent cruise on the Star that the same drink can be a different price depending on the bar. We hadn't realized that on the Caribbean. The least expensive bars that we tried were the casino bar and the cigar bar (the name of which escapes me at the moment because I didn't actually frequent it, my boyfriend did). So, you might want to ask at the different locales.

We noticed that on the Sun too. Check out the casino bar, you might find better prices in there, they want you to hang around.

Sorry can't remember exact prices, but my impression on the last cruise was--beer was expensive and choices were limited, wine was about par, and mixed drinks were typical bar prices for expensive booze and a little high for cheap booze. If you order mixed drinks at the pool bars, peruse the menu first for deals. Why drink cuervo if you can get petron for the same price? :)

Another good deal---split of Korbel for $6.50 at the wine bar.

Thanks very much for all the helpful replies. The beer combo sounds a good deal and thanks for the uptodate Princess Colada price. We will pay attention to any differing prices around the ship.

All the best

Graeme

Just got off "Star" last week

Most "tropical" drinks were 6.50 + tip, martinis were 8.50 most well drinks 4.50 or double tall 6.25 but I agree with Kooma not a consistantant price @ the bars.

Special drink of the day was always 6.50. the Ultimate mai tai was very good for the price 4 shots I believe

Hello Graeme -

I happen to have some shots of the beverage menu (no pun intended ) and have some additional up-to-date pricing for you (as of mid-April 2007):

Bucket of beer was Dos Equis or Beck's Bucket, 5 for the price or 4 (available in deck bars only), $15.75 plus 15% gratuity.

No Stella lager draught, but there's Guinness Stout for $5.25 and Grolsch Premium Lager (16 oz. swing top) for $5.25 also.

As for red wine, house is available for $5.00, Mondavi Merlot for $6.50, Kendall-Jackson Cabernet and Chianti Classico for $7.50. Other selections also available.

Cheers!

Jean
