Snorkeling from the beach??

Are there any beaches in Grand Cayman you can snorkel from?

We have two boys who loved snorkeling last year in Sapphire Beach, St.Thomas, which was right from the beach. We have our own snorkel gear, so we don't need to rent it.

I am looking for something similar on our next cruise. Does anyone know of any beaches good for this?

I would prefer not to do an excursion, and would rather just do a taxi/beach.

Thanks for any info!

we snorkeled right from the beach by our hotel. it is the comfort suites on 7mile beach, there is a man made reef there, we saw lots of fish a a few turtles. the water was calm and the beach was very nice. snorkeling out on the way to stingray city was way better but if it is busy it is nice not to travel to far

Seagrape Beach on 7MB has good snorkeling at a natural coral reef. It has facilities, food, chair and umbrella rental, and beach toy rental. It's an inexpensive taxi ride from the tender docks.

Typically if you snorkel from a beach you see sand....

There's good snorkeling to be had at the popular shore dive sites south of Georgetown ... not beaches however, ironshore.

Both Eden Rock and Sunset House are very snorkel friendly. Many have found that Sunset offers a nice snorkel with easy in/out via their ladder or natural pool, a nice bar/rest' for a snack/lunch and if you ask nice they let you use the pool...... SunsetHouse.com

A mile walk or a short taxi ride.
