Rome Transporation HELP

Recommended Posts

I am a first time traveler to Rome/Italy and need to get to the main train station. Is it better to arrange a car and driver or take the train from the airport to the main terminal from safety and convenice standpoint? Second, I arrive at 8:20 in the morning and can schedule a 11:45 train or a 1:40. I would prefer to take the earlier one but my travel agent is not sure due to current airport security and so forth. Does anyone have any expereince or advice on this? Thank you very much.

We always take a taxi from the airport to the city, so a taxi to the main railway station, Termini is not so difficult. It takes a good 45 minutes from the airport to the city by car, and being peak hour, it could take a lot longer. Allowing for your aircraft to be late, plus getting your luggage you would still have time to get into Rome for the 11.45 train. Say you finally leave the airport after 10am, you still have over an hour and a half to get to Termini for the train.

Just a thought!
