If you go to Girdwood, the Bake Shop (behind the Jade Shop) is a great place for lunch.

If it is raining, we like the Museum of History and Art downtown in Anchorage. You can eat lunch there or across the street in the Federal Building. There is another great museum of Alaska art in the Wells Fargo Building out C street.

And if you want to shop for real Alaskan crafts and have a car, the Native Hospital up Tudor Road is open midday throughout the week. Crafts are brought into the hospital from all over Alaska, and they aren't marked up as much as the ones in the shops. Nancy

Or if you want to drive north the town of Talkeetna is nice and we saw moose all along the way! There are options for rafting and flightseeing to Denali from there if you have enough time.....
