Beware of extra charges!

I believe that since you utilized the services of a TA...he/she should have settled this...not you or NCL!

TA handled your booking...not NCL:)

I tend to disagree. Your on the cruise, NCL knew about it enough to put the notice in your room. The TA isn't onboard. It would be a TA issue if the ship wasn't aware of it.

There was no helmet "fee" on the Jewell Transatlantic. They also had a happy hour everyday where drinks were buy one get one free. I refilled my helmet then since I got 6 beers for the price of 3. This was a great special.

The first time we took the Dawn they offered 2 for 1 from 11pm-midnight. We would do just what you did and fill our fridge with beer. Somebody told me there were 2 for 1 specials in the casino. I'll have to check that out next time.

We did enjoy our cruise but beware of all of the EXTRA push to buy buy buy buy alcohol!

I have never been so pressed to buy a drink before!

That is why you should always pack your "PROUD TO BE AN AA MEMBER" t-shirt!!!

Just kidding...I don't even drink alcohol so the constant hounding is annoying and has happened on both my Disney cruise and my RCCL cruise. We even got the cold shoulder from our serving team on Disney after we told them we were not and would not be interested in their wine package!

My OBC has always appeared on my stateroom bill. So far, I've never had a problem. I've never been overcharged either. I always ask the steward to remove everything from the mini frig. I couldn't have fit a THING into it - it was jammed packed with everything I don't like. (Thank goodness.)

I gave my DM a gift card for the spa. They were supposed to email her a confirmation, but never did. I called and made sure it was applied and asked if I could have a confirmation number, but they said they didn't have one. I am hoping it will be on their account. Can I go to Guest Services when we board to make sure? They did say they would have a card in the room saying Happy Birthday and that there was a credit, however, they didn't send an email like they said they would so I'm not so sure. I just don't want this to end up being a hassle...being a birthday present and all.

I booked a cruise with Travelocity and was supposed to get an onboard credit. It never showed up and I called Travelocity and they gave me a credit on my credit card. They handled it smoothly. I would call your TA and have them straighten it out. Good Luck!

If you have something in writing confirming the credit, bring it with you just in case.

I spoke with NCL yesterday since I'm only three weeks from sailing and asked about my OBC. She confirmed the OBC but said they do not send email confirmations about OBC. She said there would be a card in the room on embarkation. I've heard of others who have had email confirmations. I just can't get one. I trust that it will be there.

Same with the $300 coupon book. I was told I'd get when I booked the cruise back in March. I've heard others who've received the coupon book in the mail but I was told last night that it would be in my cabin when I got there. Again, I trust it will be there.

In both cases, I have nothing in writing but, hey, I'm not cruising for OBC or coupons -- I just need a break!!:D

Okay, I'm stuck on the beer helmet. What is this? Is it like that thing you see people wear at ball games? I'm not a drinker, so I am amazed that anyone could consume that much alcohol.

I'm heading to Alaska in July and will be watching the extras and have the steward empty the fridge first thing. Thanks for the heads-up and the tip.

These are the beer helmuts...

What I am really excited about is the upcoming Azamara Jewel. I have been on 6 X cruises. Last was in 03. I am looking forward to something new.

I've been looking at the Journey also. Looks great, and we did like Celebrity.

Looking forward to the reviews for the Journey.

I'm surprised people even use TA for cruises anymore. Its so much easier handling everything on your own. Uh ohh, hope I didnt just p*** off all the TA on here now.

I much prefer to use a travel agent because if there are any problems they go to bat for you. In addition on our last cruise we paid less than the price posted online. :D

I agree. I've ALWAYS gotten a better price from a TA. Plus, with the one I usually use, I get a 5% rebate when I get back. :) (It's owned by my union.)

We just booked the Jewel and the NCL Spring Promotion was a$180.00 onboard creidt for us booking a minsuite for four people. Will that be on my account automatically when I get on the ship?

Just a heads up about NCL OBC - We had a small OBC ($40) as part of a promotion when we sailed the Dream in January. It didn't show up on our account, and the employees on board said there was nothing they could do about it. Once we were home I wrote a letter to NCL (in Miami) detailing our wonderful cruise and those to be commended, yada yada yada. At the end I mentioned that we didn't receive the advertised credit, which was our only problem. A week later I had a call from NCL saying our card had been credited in the amount of $40 and asking if there was anything else we needed help with. I think a fair number of these get lost in the shuffle. My advice would be that if it happens, don't get frustrated while on board. It can also be resolved later. Have a great cruise. :)

It seems if someone from NCL printed the card then it should be in the system somewhere,

Well, that makes entirely too much sense, and NCL customer (non)service is notorious for their complete lack of common sense.

Call again for the email confirmation.

Make sure they have the correct email address. The email confirmation can be sent to you (since you ordered it).

Email confirmations are usually sent immediately.

Enjoy your cruise:)
