Sailing 4/4 with 18 y.o son and a friend of his. Both live and breath basketball 24/7.and he even brings his own basketball with him when we cruise. Any info regarding the court on the Liberty, competitions, 3 on 3 tournaments, etc would be appreciated. (Most eople pick a cruise for the destinations, or the price, or the food- not him- it's all about the game. The good thing is I always know where I can find him).

Formal nights are the first sea day and the next to last night of the cruise.

We will be on the Eastern route in September. Are formal nights the same? We want to do the supper club and decided to do it on one of the formal nights. I think we will do Captains night in the dining room and supper club on the other formal night.

thanks!

Looking for a recommendation as to which night we should do this. We are sailing on 4/11 and know that we want to go there one night. Was thinking about avoiding one of the formal nights. Any suggestions?

Also there are a lot of posts here. Does anyone have the menus for this ship? That might help us decide.

When we sailed the Liberty last April, we booked Harry's before we even got on the ship. We were worried it would be sold out. We didn't have to worry. I think you can wait till the day of to book. I do believe they post the menu for the day early in the day or you can probably ask you waiter the night before.

The formal nights tend to have the best food ie: lobster and prime rib, so you may not want to miss that.

I know that someone has asked this question, but ...

I have looked on the Carnival website and have seen the sample menu they have listed, however, it looks very different then the menu I had while on the Fantasy in October of last year. I know and understand that the Fantasy was a 5 night and the Liberty is a 7 night so there will be some differences, but I did not imagine them to be so vast, or is the sample menu not up to date? Also, a copy of the capers for the Eastern itinerary would be welcomed.

Also, thank you to every one for all of the information, advice, suggestions and pictures that you have all shared.

We used the self-serve laundry, on deck 7. It was convenient, but having a ton of quarters to pay for the washer/dryer and paying for detergent was not.

I would highly recommend bringing some powder detergent, bounce sheets and a roll of quarters to save the hassle of getting it all there. I had to wait in line for 15 mins at the information desk just to get quarters for the dryer.

Just go to the casino, put a $ 20 bill in the quarters slot machines and cash out

2.00 per washer and 2.00 per dryer. 1.00 for detergent 1.00 for fabric softner.

Take a roll of quarters= carnivals casinos are supposed to go cashless soon., (I just dont know when)

Thanks, serene! i've packed some powdered detergent... and i can only hope my bag isn't searched or all that white powder is going to take some explaining! haha

Try hitting up your local dollar store - you can sometimes find single-use boxes of laundry soap there. That way you don't have to worry about spillage and/or TSA cavity searches. :D

a first time cruiser to grand cayman should do the sting ray city= (not through the cruiselines as there will be many many people there with you)

using some private vendor--(look on the port of calls board for names) you arrive with about 15-20 people and the "captain" keeps you away from the crowds.

I dont know about Carnival making the suites bigger- (I am thinking they are talking about taking the category 6E-- family staterooms with floor to ceiling windows-- and making those into spa suites.

(making a suite bigger will cut into other cabins therefore cutting profits.

more information-- google carnival Liberty

We were originally booked on the Pride for the June 20. 2009 cruise and were switched to the Liberty. That's not a problem. We've been on Conquest class ships before. The problem is the switching of cabins. We had a balcony on Main deck on the Pride. It was midship. When they switched us to the Liberty, we got a balcony on the Empress deck toward the rear of the ship. I've never been in the rear of a ship before and I'm afraid of noise or vibrations. Can anyone help me? Should I try to move? The cabins are 7431 and 7435. I'd appreciate some help. Thanks!!

Told you I would reply back Not a problem no noise at all and no Vibration Realy great cruise

Looking at Carnival Liberty for Jan 10 - on a back to back - though they won't sell it as a back to back just a 2 x 7 day cruises, we are hoping to keep the same cabin for the full 14 days (with the price of airfare from the UK we have to do 10 - 14 days to justify it). My question's are as we have never sailed Carnival before and fancy something livlier this time.

1. is there an unlimited laundry package?

2. How much wine can you bring on board, and can we buy some more when we dock in Miami for the second stint?

3. Do they do wine cards (or HAL they have 20 glasses cards)

4. Do many people do 14 day cruises?

Thank you

Its not unlimited but there is a bag--for 15.00 Carnival ships have laundry rooms available on each passenger deck 2.00 to wash 2.00 to dry and 1.00 for detergent. (something to do between the hours of 9-noon when everything else is closed)

2. How much wine can you bring on board, and can we buy some more when we dock in Miami for the second stint?

You will be allowed one bottle (or is it two) per person. (if using the wine in the dining roomyou could be charged a corkage fee.= if its for your cabin-- bring a cork screw.

3. Do they do wine cards (or HAL they have 20 glasses cards)

No, they do not

4. Do many people do 14 day cruises?

some but not many.

Thank you

on a B2B cruise-- your second week will be exactly the same- hope your ports will be different.

Have you considered two ships for a different cruise.

I was on the Liberty last week and for the past guests party if you are a past guest but the person with whom you share your cabin not. That person may go with you to the cocktail. I ask for permission and they said of course.

The wine packages for 5 bottles of wine the regular package is $100.00 and the premium $150.00 plus 15% service tax.

Hello all and I must say that this is by far the most informative post that I've come across in my years of being a CC member! So kudos to all of you :D

We are sailing aboard the Liberty on 10/17/09 and I am interested to know if anyone can tell me who the current CD and DJ's are aboard the ship?

Thanks in advance for your help!

I think the current CD is Steve Knicely, but he is scheduled to rotate off on May 23, which is when I cruise. I posed a question to John Heald and he said that Butch was moving over as CD, but it wasn't positive at that point, so he told me to check back closer to the cruise.

I have no idea about the DJ
