Carnival Liberty Thread - All The Info You Need Is In Here

Hubby, daughter, her BF and I are sailing May 30th Western Caribbean. Anyone else going? Ive seen 2 other roll calls which had very few responses.

This is a great source of info for Carnival Liberty, my eyes are spinning from reading all 84 pages and my butt has grown to the shape of my computer chair! :o

I do have a few questions if anyone wants to help me out a wee bit. Sorry if Im repeating Q's posted prior. Thank you in advance!

1. Is it ok to bring a travel iron or are we able to obtain one on the ship?

2. Does the ship have its own cell phone tower and can cells be used in the middle of no-where? Approx cost per minute?

3. Im semi-panicking, hubby has REFUSED to wear a tux....what type of proper attire is ok for Harrys Supper Club or on the formal night in the diningroom?

4. We have aft cabins 6473 and 6450, which are L shaped with extended balconies. From what I have read, people either love these cabins or hate them. Im very willing to give up a sofa for a larger balcony as all 4 of us will be out there some of the time. My Q is....any photos of one of these rooms? Ive hunted high and low for some. Thanks!! Susan

Tux is not needed, the men at our table were not even wearing ties, the had on nice slacks and polo shirts. Just what we would call church clothes..There is an iron on every floor I believe in the laundry room.very handy. I haven't used cell phone but my grandsons did and had a HUGE bill when he got home. Turn them off and enjoy your trip hahha...I love the Liberty and will be sailing on her for the 3rd time in June! I know you will have a wonderful time. Most people are very casual in there dress..:)

#1- is is not ok to take an iron- its one of the items that are Not ALlowed. Carnival has laundry rooms on each passenger deck- irons and boards are located there-- they can get quite busy on formal nights with lines waiting to use the iron.

#2. Make sure your phone will get service while you are at sea-- you will have to add an international plan. (ours did not work- ) calls will be costly. (2.49-2.99 a minute) texting will cost 50 cents a message-sent or received. Better wait til you are in port away from the ship so not to use their tower. this is research that you need to check before you use your phone.

#3. Carnival is very relaxed in their dress codes. A collered shirt and khaki pants will be fine for the supper club. (except on formal nights a jacket is required...

#4. to have that longer balcony--(although I cant see 4 people out there)

Thank you for the photo, Im thinking 2 chairs over where the cameraman is standing taking the photo and it'll do fine for 4 people to sit and eat pizza!

So let me get this straight....men can wear a nice shirt and tie to Harry's but need a suit jacket to wear for the formal night in the regular dining room?? What about women, can we wear a nice pair of capri's in the dining room and a dress for formal night? I've been to AI's where a dress code is stated to be strict....and someone always walks in with jeans on and flip flops and no one says a word. I would never do that, I actually like dressing up.

Im thinking since our cabin is so close to both Harrys and the Silver diningroom, my hubby can wear a tie and coat for both places and scoot back to change if he wishes. Its not like he has to wear it all day like at the office, right? LOL

I've never seen them turn anyone away, but then, I've not seen everything!

On the shorter cruises I've been on (5 days or less), it seems that they are more relaxed about the dress code. Hubs (who wears a suit everyday to work), wears a polo shirt and nice slacks on casual days, suit on formal nights. He changes to usually a tshirt and shorts or shirt and jeans for later in the evening at the casino. I like dressing up too, but I think my days of packing sequins are past now. That extra bag costs too much!

Just like others have said, it is pretty laid back , just wear whatever makes you happy. I once heard them make an announcement in the dining room. That you can't wear hats and or cut off shorts. I have seen people on formal night in flip flops and capri's..this is our tenth cruise and I am leaving sequins at home as well. I will just wear dress blouse and black pants or dressy capri's. Husband will wear dress pants and nice collared shirt. I am sure it will be mix attire, but we will fit in just fine. Enjoy:)

Just back from the Liberty.....Had a FABULOUS cruise!!! I will be posting a full review in a few days - I have 2 papers and an exam at school this week to get to first!!!

The ship is beautiful!!!

I will be happy to try and answer any questions in the meantime...

As far as cell service....mine (Verizon) worked great! Call before you go. I had different rates in the various ports of call and the ship for actual calls. Texting was .50 outgoing and only .05 incoming no matter where we were.

You wont be turned away from the regular dining room on formal night if your husband dont have a suit on. Ships are not as strict as land based AI.

There isn't a tower on the ship, your cell phone connects through a satelite and relays to land. That is the reason it is so expensive. The cruise line contracts with a company to provide the service. One of my company's subsidiaries provides this service to some of the cruise lines. I remember the bid for Carnival, but I don't think they got it.

LizaMM- Can't wait to hear your review! So excited to get on the ship and see what she is like.

Hopefully I will get to start it tomorrow.....the ship is beautiful!

Be sure and call first. I had to get the international service turned on on my phone (there was no charge for this) and also do a roaming update before you get on the ship (*228 I think, option 2) they should tell you this when you call.

Nezmo,

Thank you for this review, excellent photos and may I say you have a very pretty little lady there! My husband was especially fond of the food photos, they looked "de-rishous!" as my 5 yr old grand daughter would say!

Does any body have the new 7 day Capers for the Eastern Caribbean cruise? My DH and I will be going in Oct. and would like to see the Capers so we can get even more excited.

I have looked through threads and haven't been able to find the new Capers out there.
