Legend vs. Valor

We are looking to sail on 11/25 and can't decide between

these two ships. Does anyone have any input that may help

us make a decision? I see the Valor is a couple years newer

than the legend. It looks like the difference in the itinerary is

that the Legend goes to Cozumel and the Valor goes to Roatan.

Went on the Valor on May 13 and the Legend was also docked everywere with us except for Roatan. I personally chose the Valor because of 3 things: 1. Roatan. I knew the Legend did not go to Roatan and I wanted to visit it because of the coral and barrier reef, also it's almost a virgin port, which means, the nature is beautiful and it is not exploted. 2nd, the price difference was about $150 less than the Legend and 3rd, because the Valor is newer. I am glad I did get the Valor, some people we talked to in Costa Maya did say they would have liked to visit Roatan instead of Conzumel.

We live in Tampa and the Legend would have been better than driving 5 hours to Miami, but hey, Roatan was worth it!! in fact was our fav. port. If you need help with the excursions, or anything, just write back, I'll make sure to check this thread again...

I would do the Valor for sure:

Go on the Valor. A group of 14 of us went on the Legend back in January.

They were very short staffed -- so the service was not up to par.

I did post a review, so you can read about the experiences we had on the Legend.

I think you'd have a great time on either ship. The Valor is a little newer but also holds more passengers. As noted it goes to Roatan where the Legend goes to Cozumel, so the ports might be a deciding factor.

We did the Valor last year and had a great time, but decided to try the Legend (Spirit class ship) out of Tampa this year. I would prefer Roatan over Coz, but a lot of folks love that port. The legend has been getting very good reviews since it started sailing out of Tampa, and I think Tampa might be a bit easier to embark from than Miami.

This is one where you could almost just toss a coin to decide and be a winner either way it lands.

Good luck and have a great cruise!

John

We had booked the Legend this past April and had to cancel for injury.

I am (was) already to rebook for April 08. Now I have read some postings about the Valor and Roatan:confused: I am not sure what to do:rolleyes:

What are some good tours for Roatan? Myself, DH and DS (age 12).

DH does not snorkel. DS and myself are always on the go go go.

In the orther ports we had planned...

Grand Cayman - Stingray city/turtle farm/Hell

Belize - Cavetubing with Yhony

Cozumel - Paradise Beach (DH really wanted this for his own day, he says he needs a vacation after going on vacation with me:D )

Costa Maya - Chacchoben ruins

Also why is the Valor price lower than Legend if it is a new and bigger ship?

What to do...What to do....

We decided on the Valor and are sailing Nov 25 with my husband, mother and three sons. At first I couldn't decide between ships going out of Miami. Then, I discovered the Legend out of Tampa. My dh and I went back and forth as Tampa is a bit closer drive from Ohio then Miami (we later decided to most likely fly). Anyways, the deciding factor were Roatan, the size of the ship and what I read on CC. :) Good luck with your decision - I still question myself weekly on just about everything related to decisions regarding the trip!

Hi all, just to answer some of your questions about Roatan. It was our fav. port. We took the Canopy tour and then Tabyana beach. Do not miss it!!! we booked it through Carnival's website. I heard a lot of people say they had an amazing time with Victor, but when I contacted him, he charged me $40.00 per person to a private driver all day, then $35.00 per person to enter the canopy tour, so we Checked Carnival's website and The canopy tour plus Tabyana beach was $79 per person, so we decided to book through Carnival because it was going to be about the same price and we knew if something happen, we would be better with Carnival than anyone else. This excursion was amazing and if you plan to book it, do it as fast as you can. Prices were about $120.00 when we were abord. Our friends decided to book this excursion two days before and it was already sold out. We booked it about 2 months before sailing. Tabyana beach was beautiful, the coral was amazing, the best coral I've snorkle!!! if you do not want to do any canopy tour, simply go to Tabyana and spend the day there... make sure to book through carnival because it's a private beach. If you take a taxi with the locals, you won't have access to chairs. You'll love this port, but make sure you book an excursion because this port is extremelly poor, therefore, it's depressing if you don't have anything to do.
