Thinking of changing cabins on RCCL

Recommended Posts

I have booked three cabins on the Mariner of the Seas and have since thought about changing cabins, even though I have made the final payment. The reason I might do this is because I realized one of them is a "connecting" cabin (we are D1 and the next one is a Grand). We don't know who is next door--are worried about more noise. Is this a valid concern? Also, I was thinking of changing from a D1 to a JS. I also have two L cabins across the hall. If I change to different L cabins, will I have to rebook and pay the new (higher rate)? To upgrade to a JS, I imagine I have to pay whatever the current rate is. Has anyone done this on RCCL before? (the cruise sails in August)

Yes, you have to pay the current rate so if your rate has gone up, you will have to pay the difference between what you actually paid and the current rate. Not such a good idea if your rate has gone up.

If there is another D1 that is available and you think in a better location, they will usually let you change to that one if you ask. Not sure if you went thru a TA and if so then they would have to ask. You can check Travelocity to see which cabins are still open.

As far as I know you can only change within the category you are now in without paying extra.

As far as the extra noise? Its hard to predict how noisy your neighbors might be. So far I only had trouble with that once.

We just changed from an FOV and an E! to an RFS. It works without penalty as long as your travel agent or RC rep who made the original booking does the change. We paid no penalty, just the standard cost differential. ...and we set sail in 10 days!
