Lunch on boarding day on the Empress

Recommended Posts

Although it may have changed, the last couple of times we sailed on the Empress, we were able to board at 11AM. We had our carry on luggage with us, and we set up temporary camp at a table near the pool. The bars were open upon boarding; the Windjammer was advertised to be open at 11:30AM but actually opened a bit later at 11:45AM one time and closer to noon more recently. The staterooms were available at 1PM.

Bon Voyage~~

Well CB, many people do fly to the port the day of the cruise. Some of my family live in the midwest, so they are up at 6AM to drive two hours to get to the airport; then they have a three hour flight---and we know what has happened to airline food! Then they land, grab baggage and get shuttled to the pier, where they can be waiting on line for some time before being able to board.

You bet they are hungry and ready to eat a decent meal.
