Cruise with 5 year old

This will be our first cruise with our 5 yr. old son, it looks like he will be in with the Toddlers (ages 2-5) has anyone had a 5 yr. old in Camp Carnival?

Do they split the 4/5 yrs. away from the younger ones? I just know he would hate being with what he would call "babies" all week, or would he have the option of going up to the Juniors (ages 6-8).

Thanks for any information:)

Hi! DS was 5 (he actually had his 6th birthday on board) for our first cruise. Carnival assigns the child to a group based on his/her age on the day of boarding.

They do group the 2 and 3 year olds together, and the 4 and 5 year olds together.

The main difference between the 2-5s and 6-8s is that the 6-8s sometimes have activities around the ship, including attending the production shows as a group. On cruises with a lot of kids, sometimes the 6-8s camp is, say, in the disco during the day. The 2-5s always stay in the Camp.

DS had no probelm with Camp that first cruise - in fact, he LOVED it. Hope you have a similar experience! Enjoy your cruise.

My daughter is 5 and we just returned from the carnival victory. She loved camp carnival they did activities and plenty of toys to play with, She made a couple of friends that she actually saw at the pool and at the beach that she played with there. She even went to after 10 babysitting a couple of times and had a great time. They give you a beeper the first day if your child is 5 and under so they can page you if you are needed. It is very safe only the parent that signs them up the first day can sign them in and out and they can designate 1 other adult to do this also if wanted. There was also a wading kids pool which was nice because she played and I layed in the sun
