giabra Posted September 13, 2004 #26 Share Posted September 13, 2004 Agree! That's why I feel it would be better for Costa (and for cruisers) going back to the old Italian style.
margeg Posted September 14, 2004 #27 Share Posted September 14, 2004 Thats why we try to go when all the kids are in school. We went on the Caribben Princess the beginning of June, and you could not get in the pools they were so full of kids.
margeg Posted September 23, 2004 #28 Share Posted September 23, 2004 Regarding kids on cruises. We went on the Celebrity Princess last June and it was overrun with kids. You could not even get into the pool at times, but they were mostly young teens. The pool that was supposed to be for little children was EMPTY. My sister went on the Norwegian Dawn last summer, and they actually had to empty the pool out because some baby pooped in it!!!! No one in charge seemed to care. Also there were teen agers playing in the casino on Princess.
hadleys9538 Posted September 29, 2004 #29 Share Posted September 29, 2004 My family and I traveled on the Costa Atlantica last March for Spring break, and we had an incredible time. This was our eighth cruise (first with Costa), and we particularly enjoyed the fact that there were literally people from all over the world on that ship, not just Americans. The pasta was incredible, and we had great food and service. I think there was more of a problem with that in the past, than there is now. Toga night (on the last night) is not to be missed. We are going on RCCL's Vision in March on the Mexican riviera itinerary. Costa doesn't offer that one yet. I have to tell you though that I wouldn't hesitate to book on Costa again. The European flavor of everything is great.
psw Posted September 29, 2004 #30 Share Posted September 29, 2004 Costa blows RCCL out of the water. We were on Costa 2 years ago and it was fabulous. Totally different then RCCL. Just returned from our first RCCL and will never cruise with them again. Costa is superior in all accounts. You will love Costa. If you liked RCCL then you probaly will not enjoy Costa as the passengers on Costa remeber how to use a little thing called manners!I found the exact opposite while cruising on Costa, I found the pasengers to be very rude. MortgageChick Posted October 2, 2004 #31 Share Posted October 2, 2004 We sailed Costa last December on the Mediterranea. Food is definitely substandard and service in Dining room is sub par. In 10 cruises I had never seen syrupy canned fruit served on the breakfast buffet-yuck! The food on RCL leaves something to be desired, but the food we got on Costa was tasteless, often cold and definitely not up to what we expect from N American cruiselines, notwithstanding that Costa is part of Carnival Corp. The best food we have had has been on HAL. We have 3 Celebrity cruises booked in the next 18 months and hope to report that we like the food as good or better than HAL.
