When and where can you use your cell phones to call home? Does it work anywhere on the boat or just in portsl

It depends on which ship you are on. Some have not yet installed the needed equipment for cell phone use. If you are on one that has it, you can pretty much use your phone anywhere on the ship. Watch out for the price of these calls because you never know what network you are on and they can charge you pretty much any amount they want.

I don't know which ships have it or not. You can call Princess and I'm sure they can tell you. Enjoy the cruise!!:D

According to Cellular at Sea, only the Grand Princess currently has at sea cell towers; other ships in Princess' fleet would be limited to port tower access only. The rate charged may depend on the carrier...my last Grand trip it was 4.95 per minute (Tmobile) which was the same as using the ship phone.

if you are going to St. Thomas (USVI) you will get cingular and Sprint w/o roaming charges. We were on her last week.

www.cellularatsea.com has not updated the number of Princess ships that offer this service. The Grand is not the only one with this capability. It is imperative that if one is to use this service, to contact their cellular provider in order to prevent expensive roaming charges.
