Rare Cruise Junky Posted June 11, 2007 #1 Share Posted June 11, 2007 With the new exotics, am I reading it right, so far there's only Sun Class ships doing a TransPacific? there's no way we'll do 31 days on those dinky balconies. Which ships is sailing that route April 09? another Sun Class? :(

Which ships is sailing that route April 09? another Sun Class? :( Are you only looking for 09? If not: The Regal is on a 31 day Trans-Pacific from LA on 08/31/07 The Sapphire is on a 22 day Trans-Pacific from Vancouver on 09/08/07. Or a 15 day from AK on 09/15/07. The Diamond is on a 22 or 31 day Trans-Pacific from Vancouver/ AK on 09/13 or 20/08. The Dawn is on a 31 day Trans-Pacific from San Francisco on 09/24/08. Rare Cruise Junky Posted June 11, 2007 Author #3 Share Posted June 11, 2007 Unfortunately, it has to be July 08 - June 09 to fit with vacation time. I'd jump at Diamond if we didn't have those time restraints. We're balcony people, love sitting, eating, reading and you just can't put your feet up on the sun class and that's a lot of sea days!! virgenia Posted June 11, 2007 #4 Share Posted June 11, 2007 The April 09 cruise Sydney to SFO is on the Dawn Princess. We decided we had to have a minisuite to do 31 days on a Sun class ship. Fortunately our crack TA got us an aft mini which is HUGE when the bookings opened last Thursday. Ginny

Ginny A mini is the only way to go on the sun class. Good for you, it'll be a great trip. We had a full suite on the Sea Princess and the aft is great!! raydon Posted June 11, 2007 #6 Share Posted June 11, 2007 Wow...we thought a lot last year about waiting until 09 to do that cruise and decided on the Sapphire on 08...glad we did!
virgenia Posted June 11, 2007 #7 Share Posted June 11, 2007 Actually would have preferred to do it on the sapphire, but the itinerary is just a little teeny better on the Dawn. And I can't find if the Sapphire is going to do those transpacifics in 2009. Maybe with the Sun being there permanently Princess will no longer do the Sapphire runs. whenistrivia Posted June 12, 2007 #8 Share Posted June 12, 2007 I have a sneaky suspicion that the Sapphire might be doing the North route returning from the Orient in early 2009.. via Russia, Korea, etc. The Star might be doing the Mexican Riviera in place of the Golden, which looks like it will be doing the Hawaii runs. We also would have preferred to do a Sapphire-class ship on the Transpacific sailing, but the Dawn will be fine. We are in one of the standard balcony cabins (on the Caribe deck also, where the openings are smaller than on the Aloha and Baja decks, but it's still better than a standard outside or inside cabin.) From what I can tell at the moment, the Dawn is it for options for early 2009 coming back from Australia. Hi, Ginny and Steve !! stellalimelight Posted June 13, 2007 #9 Share Posted June 13, 2007 The Diamond is going to go back to doing the Vancouver-Orient-Australia-route in the Fall of 2008. So if they follow their normal route that it originally did, that the Sapphire ended up doing, then it should be heading back to the U.S from Australia in the late spring of 2009. whenistrivia Posted June 13, 2007 #10 Share Posted June 13, 2007 On the Princess web site they show a sailing on the Diamond in early May 2009 going from Beijing to Alaska.. Looks like it's taking the northern route.. Gary
Rare Cruise Junky Posted June 13, 2007 Author #11 Share Posted June 13, 2007 Diamond apparently will be back in AU towards the end of 09 and early 10. You can check the Sydney Cruise Ship terminal page and she's there. Doesn't look like anything long though...maybe AU - NZ route. So hopefully she'll do the Transpacific south pacific route then.
