We returned last night from a very enjoyable and memorable river cruise on the Amalegro. This site was very valuable in the planning of our river cruise so please feel free to ask any questions. We stayed three nights at the Renaissance Hotel in Prague a perfect location central to most everything. The breakfast excellant! There was an Amadeus representative in the lobby as you arrive with all the information needed to start your cruise. Prague was a pleasant surprise we just loved it. Wonderful cafe's and a great walking city so remember the most important thing is to bring comfortable walking shoes. We had a walking tour of Prague and the city is especially beautiful in the evening when the Charles Bridge is lit just a magical sight. We left on Sunday for Nurenberg a very long drive but we stopped in a charming city called Karlovy Vary, a charming city full of history. We enjoyed lunch at a restaurant named Bernards very good great atmosphere.

Our arrival at the ship was hassle free easy check-in. We had #229 Cello deck and we found out later the aft cabins have a problem with diesel fumes from the poor design of the ship. We just kept our window closed and we were never in our cabin so it wasn't a problem. For future reference in booking on the Amadeus ships we were told to book the first ten cabins forward on either deck. Aft cabins have a problem with noise, vibration and fumes. The rooms are very compact, they have utilized every space. Nice bathrooms small, but you will love the shower. The bedding is very comfy, duvets, pillows just the best..

The Positives...John Riley Cruise director..superb..over and beyond in his duties..

Staff, housekeepers terrific very hard workers

Tour guides, every tour well organized and they also had a leisure walking tour for people that wanted a slower pace.

Ship was immaculate and we liked the intimacy of our small group of people.

Negatives. Very disappointed with the service and food. We were expecting a five star dining experience and this was NOT!!! We had two delicious dinners one being the Captains dinner and why couldn't we have this standard every evening. Breakfast was fine and the lunches consisted of salad, soup and an entree. We usually ate lunch off the ship if we were on a tour. Tim was the ship chef and he deserves an A for courage he stopped at our dinner table a few times and listened to our negative comments. The food was average and also the portions small. You could have seconds but as my husband stated who wants more inferior food.. We still despite the food problem had a terrific vacation and would consider doing another river cruise but maybe not Amadeus..
