Tube question

Recommended Posts

We will be taking the Eurostar from London to Paris after our cruise. On the return trip the train gets into Waterloo at 11pm and we will have to take the tube to Victoria Station to get back to our hotel. Will all the trains still be running? Also, will it be safe to take the tube at that time of night? Thanks for the info!

Yes, the tubes will still be running - and they will probably be very busy so quite safe!

Best route for you - take the Jubilee line northbound one stop to Westminster and then change onto the District/circle line Westbound two stops to Victoria!

Thanks! How long do you think it will take to get from Victoria Station to Waterloo at 6am on a Friday?
By tube - as it is only 3 stops it should be around 12 mins - giving you time to walk the connecting corridors - allow 25 to be safe! By cab about 10 mins

Will there be cabs readily available at 6am or at 11pm?
From the Victoria area at 6 am on a Friday: This should not be a problem; the early birds amongst cab drivers are usually out and about by then. I never have a problem getting a cab to the office at 6 am on the (mercifully few) days that I have to do that.

From Waterloo to Victoria at 11 pm on a Friday: There will be plenty of cabs around, but possibly also rather a lot of competition for them at the station, so you may find queues both at the cab ranks at the Eurostar side and also at the rank at the mainline side. One relatively reliable place to get cabs on the street at that time of the night is on Waterloo Bridge, if you walk on the side of the road on which the cabs are crossing the river away from Waterloo Station towards Covent Garden. The empty ones are going to Covent Garden to pick up people coming out of theatres, pubs, restaurants etc at that time.
