jlw016 Posted June 25, 2007 #1 Share Posted June 25, 2007 Me and my wife are sailing on our first cruise in July and was wondering since the last names on my wifes bc and drivers liscense are different will she need to bring her marrige(sp?) liscenses to prove the name change, even though her maiden name is listed as her middle name on her drivers liscense? Dockman123 Posted June 25, 2007 #3 Share Posted June 25, 2007 Me and my wife are sailing on our first cruise in July and was wondering since the last names on my wifes bc and drivers liscense are different will she need to bring her marrige(sp?) liscenses to prove the name change, even though her maiden name is listed as her middle name on her drivers liscense? If you are using a birth certificate and drivers license I would also bring the marraige license just to be on the safe side. I remember an earlier thread asking about marraige licenses and even though most were never asked for them a few were asked. For one more piece of paper I wouldn't take the chance of having problems not having it available.
banderboo Posted June 25, 2007 #4 Share Posted June 25, 2007 Before getting a passport I used BC and DL which have different last names. I was never asked for a marriage license (nor did I bring it along) to prove the name change. I guess they could ask for it but my guess is that this is a very common occurance and they are used to seeing it. With that said if it makes you more comfortable to have it with you then bring it along. No sense starting your vacation under stress.
celebrity Posted June 25, 2007 #5 Share Posted June 25, 2007 Before I had a passport I always brought my marraige license along with my birtH certificaye. No one ever asked for the marriage license but I brought it along just the same. Well worth the piece of mind.

phoenix1181 Posted June 25, 2007 #7 Share Posted June 25, 2007 I was asked for a marriage license just once, and I didn't have it. No problem, they let me fly but indicated I may have a "problem" coming back. (I was heading to Aruba) I worried about it for two weeks! When I got home, I knew it was time for a passport. Bring it with you. It won't take up much space and could prevent a lot of worry and aggravation.
Mysticks1 Posted June 25, 2007 #8 Share Posted June 25, 2007 get it changed quit quickly just to be safe. Quick & easy resolution. I thought they were referring to the BC being the maiden name and the DL showing the married name.
