sylver2 Posted June 26, 2007 #1 Share Posted June 26, 2007 Hi all. right now I'm pretty stumped. Definately goin on 4-day cruise in Aug to Bahamas. Its betwen RC majesty of Seas & Carnival fascination Can't decide which one. Got good quotes Carnival Fascination $838-oceanview cabin category 6c upper. Royal Carribean Majesty of seas $849-Superior Oceanview Cabin We are a 30 year old young couple interested in having fun as well as relaxing, drinking etc. Any advice would be greatly appreciated:-)
Just2Fitz Posted June 26, 2007 #2 Share Posted June 26, 2007 Hi, I just got off Fascination today and if you're looking for a party then Fascination is the best. A few older people in my party told me that RCC set the standard very high and Carnival didn't match that standard. O yeah, the casinos are damn generous. 2Cruise4Ever Posted June 26, 2007 #3 Share Posted June 26, 2007 I've done both. And, both are great! The only difference is that you get to go to RCCL's private island for a great beach day. If I had to choose again, it would probably be the Majesty. But, only because of the private island. Oh, and yes, the casino on Fascination is generous! I won the jackpot on a slot machine 2 years ago :D

qorc Posted June 28, 2007 #5 Share Posted June 28, 2007 two totally different lines. If you want party, party, party, it's Carnival. If you want a better quality of ship, food, and service, it's RCI. read the ratings. In almost all of them, RCI is in a higher class of cruise line than Carnival. Carnival is, however, usually cheaper and geared more to the single crowd. Again, depends what you want and how price sensitive you are. We would never take Carnival. We love RCI. So I'd be biased. again, plenty of ship and cruise line reviews here and on other websites. Read them. Then make up your mind.
momofmeg Posted June 28, 2007 #6 Share Posted June 28, 2007 I have been on the Fascination, I have also been on Sovereign of the Seas the Majesty's sister ship, I liked the Sovereign better then Fascination. Also with a 4 day cruise don't you get the private island also instead of a sea day with Fascination? So would you prefer a sea day or a day at the beach? I would base my decision on that. Silvery Seas Cruiser Posted June 29, 2007 #7 Share Posted June 29, 2007 Majesty's four-day cruise includes Key West, Nassau and Coco Cay, the heavenly RCI private island. Plus Majesty stays in Nassau until midnight on Tuesday, so you have lots of time to do what you want in Nassau. Majesty has fun things such as Johhny Rockets diner, a rock climbing wall, a great gym, and is newly refurbished with all new bedding. I don't think you can beat Majesty, but I'm not a big fan of Carnival. I realize it is a matter of personal taste.
sylver2 Posted June 29, 2007 Author #8 Share Posted June 29, 2007 I have been on Carnival many many times. Love it! The only reason I considered RCL was because it was actually Cheaper then carnival. I was hoping it would be just like carnival but I'm seeing its not. I'm not really looking for nice & quiet and high standards..lol. I don't mind it, but I'm considering the person I'm taking and he might be bored. Thanks so much everyone. I already booked the fascination which was way more expensive then RCL. Bases5 Posted June 29, 2007 #10 Share Posted June 29, 2007 I like both lines I don't think there is as much difference between the 2 lines as there used to be. The RCCL ships are nicer (classier) but the food and service is very close. The big difference is cabins RCCL Standard Ocean View 122 sq ft Standard inside 119 sq ft Superior Ocean View 159 sq ft RCCL does offer less expensive balcony cabins but still small on these size vessels Carnival Standard Ocean View 186 sq ft Standard Inside 186 sq ft
MJ25 Posted June 30, 2007 #11 Share Posted June 30, 2007 I have cruised both Royal Carribean and Carnival and I would definately go with ROYAL CARRIBEAN !
Cruising89143 Posted June 30, 2007 #12 Share Posted June 30, 2007 Been on both ships and would take the Majesty hands down but one thing that we all have to keep in mind is that Coco Cay is not guaranteed. It depends on the weather but when you do get to stop it is very nice.
Leafpeeper Posted July 2, 2007 #13 Share Posted July 2, 2007 Congratulations on booking your cruise on Fascination. My DD was married on Majesty of the Seas 5 years ago. We have sailed on both ships before and enjoyed both cruises. I agree that the cabins are much larger on Fascination than on Majesty, but the decor is much prettier on Majesty. The network tv channels on Carnival are a plus too. I also loved stopping at Coco Cay (private island) on Majesty, but I have been told that they often have to skip that port due to high winds affecting tendering in and out. We also enjoy sailing on Fascination class ships for short cruises at a bargain price. We both enjoy the pizza and caesar salad with ice cream 24 hrs on Carnival, but we give a slight edge to Majesty for overall appeal. DH loves the $3 table game specials in the casino on Carnival cruises. Although I have heard that NCL has added a $5 blackjack table poolside on their ships for afternoon gambling.
