Upper Deck (8a) or Verandah (8c) on Triumph?

I have reserved a balcony suite on Upper deck cabin 6367/mid/stbd but now i have a chance to upgrade to a Verandah balcony. The only cabins available are located in aft and forwards. Is this worth the upgrade? This is our first cruise, and I'm worried about the stability and motion of the ship. I have read that mid cabins are the best for stability, but I'm curious if the room and balcony are actually bigger with this upgrade. If not, what are the benefits of the upgrade?

We've always had balcony cabins (category 8A) on the Upper Deck (all 4 cruises on Carnival) but 6367 is right above the casino and bar area so be prepared for some VERY NOISY nights as there is usually a guitar player or small band playing just to the right of the casino on the starboard side. We learned our lesson last year on the Valor. We've also had aft balconies and loved it. Usually less traffic and much quieter. Never stayed forward. I know the higher the deck the more money. The balcony and cabin are the same size (unless you get a suite). I would definitely book the Verandah deck if it wasn't too much more. We're booked on the Freedom for spring break 2008 - March 15th and decided to go up one deck to the Empress deck (category 8B this time) midship port side. Hope this helps. Have a wonderful time.

Our friends just stayed in 6367 on the Triumph last week, we were in 6403. She did say she heard the piano guy singing a few of the nights. I think since it is right near the stairs, the sound carried up. She didn't say it kept her awake though. We on the other hand heard nothing and we were just down the hall. Good location to the laundry room and ironing! I think it depends wether or not you go to bed early. We never went up before 1am, so she was pretty tired by time she went in, going in and 11 might be a little different, still alot of activity on deck 5 at that time.

Id rather be higher and closer to the buffet, but then I travel with someone who cant do steps and get tired of waiting on elevators. The closer to my moring coffee the better. When you say aft, Im assuming not the aft view, you just mean further to the aft?

Some love the aft view of the wake if you can get that. Iv been pretty far aft and all the way forward...all the way, looking forward on some cabins that Princess Caribbean has but not older ships on the Lido deck, which is high and forward, supposed to be more motion, but worth it to us. We could run up the steps to the spa which she used a lot etc.

Thanks to all who replied. This is our first cruise and I really didnt think to look at the activity on the deck below, I was more concerned with the ones above. The balconies available on the Verandah Deck are: (no mid ship)

8405 Aft,Starboard

8410 Aft, Port

8415 Aft, Starboard

8418 Aft, Port

8423 Aft, Starboard

8253 Forward, Starboard

8245 Forward, Starboard

8237 Forward, Starboard

Are any of these better than the Upper/mid/starboard that I already have booked?

Thanks freebsmom for checking-i was beginning to panic--i dont want this to be my first and last cruise! The verandah upgrade is the same price, but if the rooms are not any bigger, I think I might stay mid-ship on the upper deck to ease my mind of motion sickness. Should I still consider moving up?
