Newbie question re: scheduling

First cruise, so pardon what I'm sure is an obvious question - clearly some people schedule more than one excursion per port - how do you know how to schedule that? i.e., if the ship is there for 8 hours and I want to do two 3 hour excursions, how can I tell if they are at the same time or whether I could do both?

when you actually book them, they tell you what time to meet and where.

if you book excursions through a local business, they tell you right away what tour times they have.

whale watching will, usually, have 3 different schedule tours during the day.

ship's tours, also, have set times. but you would be pushing it for 3 tours,

sometimes the ship is late getting to port, some tours may run late (due to traffic or slow tourists)

basically, they have pre-set times and have been doing for so long they know what time they will be back.

In places like Juneau, you can co-book with an independent vendor and they'll make sure the time frame works for you to see both. (We're doing that with Orca Whalewatching and Coastal Helicopter)
