missing the first few days of the cruise...?

Has anyone had this happen to them? If you have the travel insurance, and have a death in the family that would prevent you from catching the ship at it's start, can you board at another port and be reimbursed for the missed days? I just wasn't sure how it might work if it happened at the start of the sailing...? Thanks! Jordie

A lot depends on whether your cruise starts and finishes in a US port. If so, you might run into problems with the Passenger Services Act, that might prevent what you want to do without incurring a fine.

As for the insurance, yes, they will reimburse you for the missed days. If it's a death in the family, you would have to submit the death certificate to the insurance company along with all their other required paperwork.
