TA ...flights from Barcelona

peggyann...

actually you can get into trouble...as airlines track these flights and they can go back and retroactively charge your credit card an additional amount of what one way fare would cost.

check the fine print, if it says this fare is based on roundtrip travel and you dont do it RT, they have you.

of course you dispute your credit card and then they have to prove it, it gets to be a lengthly battle...so just something to keep it mind that it can happen now that everything is automated with the technology of today...

years ago when a ticket was handwritten or the computers were antiquated and each airline department didn't "talk" to each other you would have been fine!

A couple years ago our daughter, who was attending school in Rome, needed to return to the states earlier than planned in order to take part in a family wedding. We had initially purchased her round trip ticket to return in October, but needed to change it to August. The cost to re-issue the return part of the original ticket (British Airways) was more than the cost to buy a whole new RT ticket on another airline (American), so we bought a new round trip Rome-to-San Francisco ticket. In essence our daughter used only the first leg of both RT tickets - the BA going over to Europe and the AA coming back.

We were never charged anything for her not using the return portion of either flight. Glad I didn't know at the time that was even a possibility!

Took a deviation, but was still booked to MIA via Paris.

Barcelona airport was ok, but CDG was a nightmare. Passport control made the Disney lines look like nothing. We had 2 hours between flights, and wound up getting to the gate almost 30 minutes after scheduled dparture time. Fortunately because of this, the flight was delayed and we made it. I would avoid CDG even if you have to swim back.

Was this through Oceania?

What time did you get off the ship and time of flight?

did you choose the routing or Oceania?

thanks

It was through Oceania. We stayed 2 days in Barcelona after the cruise, and were allowed to disembarq any time we wanted. The flight was at 7:05 AM BCL to CGD. We stayed at the Hotel 1898 which is fantastic. Opened in 2006, gorgeous, and located right on La Ramble, just below Placa de Catalunya.

I agree about CDG airport. We staged through there en route to Istanbul last November to catch Nautica, and that airport is a zoo. We had Oceania air.

It took two different busses to get us to the connecting flight, which was not parked at a gate, but out on the tarmac.

The collapse of that one terminal last year (or year before) certainly did help the traffic pattern there.

I was actually amazed that our luggage ended up on the same flight as us.
