denisegold Posted July 10, 2007 #1 Share Posted July 10, 2007 Hi all. New to this board. We are sailing Boston to Bermuda in August, my husband and I, and our 3 daughters (age 10,12 and 17) We have two rooms. A lot of the reviews here are pretty good (from what I have read so far) but a friend just cruised (same boat) last week, and didn't have much good to say. Said the food wasn't very good at all, she was on deck 3 and had a lot of problem (toilet problems, maintenance). She gave the whole cruise a D. She did say the kid's programs were very good, kept children busy and happy while at sea. Did anyone cruise last week, and have problems or complaints? She was on the 3rd deck (as are we) and she advised we ask to be moved. Seems silly to me, but I'd love to hear from others... We're not expecting 5 star food or people waiting on us hand and foot. Just a nice transport to a beautiful country (we have flown to Bermuda, so we already know how great the country is). I think maybe her expectations were too high? I believe in "you get what you pay for." I'd like decent food, and stuff for my kids to do. I know in advance of the ridiculous mandatory tipping, so I know to expect those charges. Any advice, tips, words of wisdom, etc is welcome!!!
hotspur Posted July 10, 2007 #2 Share Posted July 10, 2007 Well, here's a quote from a current thread about the 7/1/07 Majesty cruise: "We pretty much ate from the moment we got onboard till the end of the cruise. The food was very good! I enjoyed the fruit salad at almost EVERY meal!" Some people can let a non-working toilet affect their outlook on everything else. Barb Nahoumi Posted July 10, 2007 #3 Share Posted July 10, 2007 A non working toilet is a pain in the -ss. However, it won't ruin my vacation. That situation happened to us on deck 4. It was fixed in a timely manner. Barb
patar Posted July 10, 2007 #4 Share Posted July 10, 2007 I cruised last week on the Majesty and I thought the food was very good. I really like the new menus. The only problems we encountered were young unsupervised children running around the ship screaming and banging on cabin doors. I really don't understand how people can leave their children unsupervised all day. We were on deck 8 and our toilet worked fine.
denisegold Posted July 10, 2007 Author #5 Share Posted July 10, 2007 Thank you for the quick replies, made me feel much better. Unsupervised children certainly isn't the ship's fault (just bad parents). Really appreciate your feedback.
