Princess Cruise Terminal in New York City

We are booked on the Crowne Princess Canada/New England cruise Sept. 22nd. We are staying in downtown New York City for two nights prior to leaving on the cruise. Can anyone tell me where the cruise terminal is located and the best way to get from the theatre district to the cruise terminal? There will be four of us traveling together.

The Crown princess leaves from the Brooklyn Cruise terminal in Red Hook. Its about a $25.00 cab ride from the theater district. Same cost for a car service per car not per person...

The cruise terminal is located at Imlay and Bowne Street in Brooklyn---its just behind the Brooklyn battery Tunnel in Brooklyn. From the Theater district...get to westside highway(really 12th ave or west street) south bound downtown to Brooklyn Battery tunnel just after the tunnel take the Hamilton Avenue exit and then make the first two lefts(follow the signs) and the street will lead right to the cruise terminal. With no traffic from Midtown about 20 minutes with traffic rush hour about twice that...

Its true you can see it if you go over the Brooklyn Bridge...but the motor entrance to the pier is at Bowne and Imay Street. Conover is one street west of Imlay and doesn't begin until Pioneer Street. King is another block down. The walk in entrance is at Conover and Pioneer. It will be even worse for the next few weeks as the major draw bridge at Hamilton is being repaired and the available lanes cut in half but on the week end it really isn't that bad...as I said I was down there today. You can avoid almost all the pot holes either by going through the brooklyn Battery tunnel or if at the BQE west bound(south at this point) getting off at Atlantic making an immediate left another left on Congress and then a right on Hicks Street when you get to the Gulf Station make a right this will lead you into Hamilton make a right onto Hamilton until it ends(if they let you go straight this becomes Imlay Street make the first right) or make the left on Van Brunt and then a right on Bowne Stret. You will see the signs...

 

 

PS the cruise terminals directions have improved but they still are confusing. They finally got the fact that you have to take the belt parkway from JFK to get to the BQE but look at the LaGuardia directions and then look at the Queens ones....hint LGA is in Queens...

Red Hook will be one of the ports we will stop at in October. Is there a visitor center within the terminal or close by. Are there tour guides available with siteseeing available by private companies? Not sure whether we will do ship tours or private. Any help?

If its a weekday there is a visitors center at Brooklyn Boro hall. They tend to run shuttles there for the cruise crew. Big apple tours is on the web as I think is something called Onion tours. You can also get info at http://www.visitnyc.com
