Skirt on Alaskan Cruise

I dread bringing up any variant of the Dreaded Jeans Debate... but...

I'm on the Coral in Alaska. On NON-formal ("smart casual") nights, would a denim skirt (picture below) be appropriate (with a cashmere sweater and ballet flats, probably)? I wouldn't be comfortable wearing jeans to the dining room, but this is a grey area in my mind...

I think it's all right. Reminds me of a job I had (a part time job while looking for my first full time one). The boss required every employee to wear dresses only (he hired only girls, in their 20s). So another worker and I would wear scuzzy denim skirts and then change into nice pants suits after work before leaving for the day.

Just back from the Island to Alaska. You will look dressed up compared to some of the passengers. There were people in the dining rooms eating in jeans, with their long dirty hair tied back with do-rags (a man and a woman)! Many people wore jeans on regular nights to the dining room with nice tops, so you wil be absolutely fine! Have a great time, it is fabulous!

On our Alaska Cruise, a gentleman at our table for dinner on formal night thought formal meant a flannel shirt with the top buttoned buttioned. I guess Alaska is a bit more casual then some other cruises. LOL

I am sure your skirt will be just fine.

My father has strong feelings on jeans-- I think if I wear them to dinner I'll be sitting at a different table than my family! ;)

Toto, that's funny about the flannel shirt-- I've been worried that it would be MORE formal because of traditionally being an older crowd!
